James Franco to Star in Hulu's Stephen King Series '11/22/63' Posted: The upcoming Hulu adaptation of Stephen King's novel "11/22/63" just got a major dose of star power: Oscar nominee James Franco will play the male lead. Franco will star as Epping, a high school English teacher who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Naturally, a host of complications ensue. In addition to starring, Franco will also produce the nine-hour series. J.J. Abrams's Bad Robot is also producing. "If I ever wrote a book that cries out for long-form, event-TV programming, '11/22/63' is it," King said at the time the series was announced. No word yet on when "11/22/63" is expected to debut. Jamie Dornan's Wife Won't Watch 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Posted: Women (and men) the world over are already salivating over "Fifty Shades of Grey," but there's one who won't be seeing the film: Jamie Dornan's wife, Amelia Warner. In an interview with USA Today, Dornan, who plays billionaire S&M enthusiast Christian Grey in the flick, revealed that Warner would be sitting out the opening weekend screening of the R-rated film. "She doesn't want to watch this," Dornan told USA Today. "She wants to support me and my work. I won't be able to sit there myself. I am not going to put any pressure on her either way. It's her decision. She's well aware that it's pretend, but it's probably not that comfortable to watch." Dornan added that all the nudity featured in the flick -- which has a whopping 20 minutes of sex in its 100-minute runtime -- was a large factor in why he wasn't particularly excited to see the movie, either. "There's quite a long shot of my (butt)," the actor told USA Today. "I wasn't hugely comfortable with it when I watched it. That's my bum. Still my bum. Wow." Audiences will no doubt say "Wow," too, when they see Dornan's derriere for themselves, though we'd imagine for different reasons. "Fifty Shades of Grey" opens on Friday. Netflix Accidentally Posts 'House of Cards' Season 3 Two Weeks Early Posted: "House of Cards" fans eagerly anticipating the series's late February debut on Netflix were probably pretty excited when they found out that the streaming service had posted the first 10 of 13 new episodes more than two weeks earlier than planned. Unfortunately, Netflix caught wind of its error not long after the mistake was made public, and pulled the episodes from the service almost immediately. The company later blamed faulty technology for the accidental posting. "Due to a technical glitch some Frank Underwood fans got a sneak peak," Netflix said in a statement. "He'll be back on Netflix on Feb. 27." The official "House of Cards" Twitter account also commented on the mistake, joking, "This is Washington. There's always a leak." Based on the episode descriptions that were (briefly) available during the snafu, it looks like the Russian president will play a large role in season three of the Emmy-winning series. Fans will have to wait until February 27 to learn more. [via: Time, The Hollywood Reporter, House of Cards] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Ryan Reynolds Teases 'Deadpool' Release With Mask Prototype (PHOTO) Posted:
The actor also reminded fans that the film's release date is closing in, and is now only a year away. And while Reynolds cautioned that "it's early" in the process, that's no doubt not going to stop fans from freaking out about this early look at the character's garb. So far, Reynolds is the only confirmed star, though actors including T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Morena Baccarin, and Taylor Schilling are all reportedly in the mix for roles. "Deadpool" is slated to open on February 12, 2016. [via: Ryan Reynolds] Photo credit: Getty Images This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Drea de Matteo Books 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Villain Role Posted: No stranger to badass roles on series including "The Sopranos" and "Sons of Anarchy," Emmy-winning actress Drea de Matteo continues the trend with a new villainous turn on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Marvel made the announcement on its website Thursday, writing, "Matteo will play Karla Faye Gideon, a Gifted woman with a grudge to bear against S.H.I.E.L.D. who joins forces with Skye's father, Cal." No word yet on just when she'll appear on the series, or how long she'll stick around. "We're thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast," said Jeph Loeb, "S.H.I.E.L.D." executive producer and Head of Marvel Television, in a statement. "We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role." "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns from hiatus on March 3 on ABC. 22 Oscar Winners and Nominees Who Started Out on Soap Operas Posted: Everybody's got to start somewhere: For some people it's theater or commercials, but for many, many actors, their first job was on a soap opera. Julianne Moore played dual characters on "As the World Turns," Laurence Fishburne played a teen drug dealer on "One Life to Live" and Susan Sarandon played a murderous drifter on "Search for Tomorrow," a soap that was also among the first gigs for Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, and Viggo Mortensen. Who else got a boost from daytime drama? Brad Pitt, Marisa Tomei, and some of the most acclaimed Oscar winners in the U.S., Australia, and even England. 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' Trailer: Henry Cavill & Armie Hammer Unite (VIDEO) Posted: The first trailer for director Guy Ritchie's adaptation of 1960s TV series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." is finally here, and based on the slick-looking clip, it seems that the long-gestating project was worth the wait. Henry Cavill stars as CIA agent Napolean Solo and Armie Hammer plays KGB operative Illya Kuryakin, two wildly different men who nevertheless team up to take down a shady organization with Nazi ties that's hellbent on threatening the globe with a nuclear device. Unfortunately, like the series, the flick is set during the height of the Cold War -- and neither man can stand the other. As Solo puts it, "Things could get a little messy" with all that tension, and as we see in the trailer, they certainly do. But despite Solo and Kuryakin's claims that they both work better alone, the pair is inevitably destined to unite for the greater good. "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." also stars Hugh Grant, Jared Harris, Elizabeth Debicki, and Alicia Vikander. It hits theaters on August 14. 13 Mistakes From Your Favorite Kinky Comedies Posted: Hollywood has churned out a lineup of sexually inclined comedies through the years with little shame, and for good reason. Watch the Swinging, Spy-Filled First Trailer for 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' Posted: This weekend's "Kingsman: The Secret Service" might be the first big spy movie of 2015, but it's far from the last. This August, Warner Bros will unleash "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," based on the television series that ran for more than a hundred episodes from 1965 - 1968 (to tell you what a technologically trippy period this was, the first season's episodes were in black-and-white, the rest in color). This new version retains the period setting but seems to be ruder and more action-packed. Would you expect anything less from director Guy Ritchie? In the new "Man from U.N.C.L.E.," Henry Cavill (summoning considerable more charm than he ever exhibited in "Man of Steel") plays Napoleon Solo, an American secret agent forced to partner with a Russian agent named Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer, forever the handsome straight man). Hugh Grant and Jared Harris are British agents and the almost painfully adorable Alicia Vikander seems to be the woman who shares both of their affections. The action seems typically Guy Ritchie-y, with frantic bouts of super sped up stuff complemented by the achingly slow motion, but the energy seems solid and the period setting certainly does a lot to pile on the charm. It will be interesting to see Ritchie tackle something that isn't exclusively British-centered, but coming off the two biggest hits of his directorial career with his two "Sherlock Holmes" movies, it's fair to say that he's taking the material seriously and will deliver in a big way. Watching the trailer, though, it's hard not to think of the original version of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," which was to be the last theatrical film from genius director Steven Soderbergh, with George Clooney in the Napoleon Solo role and featuring a score from David Holmes, based on a script by Scott Z. Burns ("Side Effects"). Ah, what could have been... Watch the trailer and see the brand-new poster below. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Say 'Aloha' to the First Trailer for Cameron Crowe's New Movie (VIDEO) Posted: Sometimes you just need a little chatty, whimsical Cameron Crowe romantic comedy in your life. The first trailer for Crowe's new movie, "Aloha," certainly demonstrates that. Originally called "Deep Tiki," the film was ready to go a few years ago with a much different cast (led by Ben Stiller), before being reassembled with Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone in the primary roles. The film concerns a disgraced defense contractor who is sent to Hawaii to supervise a satellite array and, while there, true to form, falls in love. The ridiculously starry cast also includes Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray, John Krasinski, Danny McBride and Jay Baruchel. There will also, presumably, be well-known pop songs expertly placed for maximum emotional devastation. What's interesting about the film, which at one point also went by the name "Volcano Romance," is that there was, at least initially, an element of magic and mysticism which has either a) been cut from the film entirely or b) proved too hard to introduce in an initial trailer meant to get everyone (including soccer moms and guidance counselors) excited about the movie. Hopefully the Polynesian mysticism and talking computer made the final cut. Without these elements, the trailer makes it seem almost too conventionally Cameron Crowe-y. But we will see... Not to temper the enthusiasm but this is the first movie Crowe has written and directed since 2005 "Elizabethtown," an embarrassing debacle that he hasn't completely atoned for. (2011's "We Bought a Zoo," Crowe's last film, saw him working from another writer's screenplay.) Here's hoping that he's communed with the island gods adn reconnected with his creative mojo. Go Behind the Scenes With James Bond in This Snowy 'Spectre' Clip (VIDEO) Posted: There are few movies being released this year that are as fiendishly anticipated as "Spectre," the new James Bond film starring Daniel Craig. Production recently got underway, and Sony and MGM have helpfully released a behind-the-scenes clip of a giant action set piece that takes place in the snowy mountains of Austria. (Seriously, though, how in the hell are they getting this movie shot, edited, and all effects'd up by November? Good lord that seems like an undertaking.) You only see the briefest glimpses of what they're actually shooting, since the movie is, like all Bond productions, notoriously secretive. But you do get to see Craig running around and shooting a gun as 007, plus brief interviews with new Bond girl Lea Seydoux and Dave Bautista, who presumably plays a big scary henchman. Still no sight of Christoph Waltz, who plays the big bad, although when I ran into him at a "Big Eyes" press conference, he told me he wasn't shooting for a little while. As production designer Dennis Gassner says in the clip, the hopes are to top "Skyfall," the last Bond joint and the first to gross over $1 billion worldwide (the reason: it was arguably the best and most gorgeous 007 movie ever). Director Sam Mendes and screenwriters John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade have returned for their second go-around, so it seems like they just might live up to those lofty goals. "Spectre," which also stars Ben Wishaw, Naomi Harris, Monica Bellucci, and Ralph Fiennes, opens on November 6th. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Best of Late Night TV: Steven Yeun's Nude Steam and Charles Barkley's Golf Game Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. Kicking things off (more like putting things off) is Jimmy Fallon, who played a round of Golf around "The Tonight Show" stage with Hugh Grant and Charles Barkley. It was basically incredible. David Spade stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and among his list of conversation topics was Kanye West. More specifically, his post-Grammy meltdown in which he shaded Beck. "I wanna like Kayne, it's virtually impossible," Spade said. Randall Park visited "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to talk about "The Interview" and what it was like playing Kim Jong-Un -- more specifically what it was like to walk around with that questionable hair cut for days on end. We saved the best for last! "The waking Dead's" Steven Yeun hit up "Conan" and went to a nude spa for some relaxation, and it was the most incredible moment in late night history. We won't give you any spoilers, just watch. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
