Watch First 'Transformers: The Last Knight' Trailer Brings Chaos to The UK

Posted: 06 Dec 2016 12:00 AM PST

Michael Bay made his name as a director with his sophomore feature, the rollicking action smash The Rock, which exceeded expectations as a crowd-pleasing thriller. Since then, Bay's career has seen its share of highs and lows, but there's no doubt that his work on the Transformers series has been an integral reason why the franchise has become so popular. Bay excels at designing and filming extravagant action sequences that stretch the boundaries of reality. Since the Transformers movies revolve around the struggle between rival factions of transforming alien robots, obviously there's a degree of fantasy involved. Bay understands that the  fantasy factor allows him a degree of latitude in his action scenes, but he matches that with characters who display a spirit...

Alan Tudyk Wants a Role in a 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Movie; Director James Gunn Responds

Posted: 05 Dec 2016 07:30 PM PST

When Fandango sat down to chat with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Alan Tudyk about what it was like to portray the newest Star Wars droid -- and total scene stealer -- K-2SO, we joked that there must be some mandate now for him to star in almost every single Disney movie. "it's one I'm trying to push," he joked. "Because I want to get in one of the Marvel movies!"  Not only has Tudyk provided voice work on recent hits like Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia, Big Hero 6 and Moana (he's Heihei), but he's now branched out to other rooms at the Mouse House, including Star Wars, with a Marvel movie next on his list of Disney properties to conquer. Tudyk did confirm to us that he will return in some way to the worlds of Frozen and...

Jimmy Kimmel Will Host the 2017 Oscars

Posted: 05 Dec 2016 06:00 PM PST

Finding the right Oscar host is a difficult task, maybe even harder than winning one of the awards. The perfect choice is an entertainer who is most appropriate for the tone of the ceremony and for the vibe of the world in his or her given year. It's probably for the best to hold off hiring someone until late in the season, as the producers have this year. In 2014 and 2015, the host was named in October, and in 2013 we learned who was emceeing the show as early as August. This year we got all the way to December before Jimmy Kimmel was officially announced as the host of the 89th Academy Awards. Kimmel will be one of the few hosts to have hardly any movie credits to his name. Most of his roles on the big screen have been as himself (see last year's Pitch Perfect...

Tom Cruise Demanded They Shoot 'The Mummy' Plane Crash In Actual Zero-G

Posted: 05 Dec 2016 04:30 PM PST

There's a bit of a trend in movie trailers these days to focus on one moment instead of chopping up the entire movie. The new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 does this really well, as does The Mummy. The latter spends the most memorable chunk of its trailer showing Tom Cruise hanging out in a cargo plane loaded up with a big, ancient sarcophagus. The plane then begins to crash, sending everyone inside on a zero gravity spiral. And since this is a Tom Cruise movie, all that action had to be filmed in the most ridiculous way possible: in actual zero gravity. Slashfilm has a report from The Mummy director Alex Kurtzman about how the sequence was filmed. In short, the plan was to basically do what Christopher Nolan did on Inception and build a giant, rotating set characters...
