When it comes to gambling there are two sides to what we get to see on the screen. There is the old fashioned, land-based casino (trust me, that’s where I fit in!), or of course there's the very popular online casino (for instance 888casino), though the themes are often similar. Be it the darker world of crime or the equally exciting thrill of the win, people can't get enough of these types of movies. With that in mind here are some of the best.

Casino (1995)

Casino is an easy one to put on the list, with it being directed by one of the greatest directors, Martin Scorsese. A master of the art, Casino is the spiritual successor to Goodfellas and continues the theme of organised crime, this time taking it into the extravagant world of the casino. Bringing the familiar actors Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci, we see the money making world as well as the far darker bloodier side. Arguably one of the best casino movies ever, this is a must see.

Ocean's Eleven (1960/2001)

Depending on your age there are two flavours to Ocean's Eleven. The more retro is the Frank Sinatra "Rat Pack" version, and for the younger audience we have George Clooney and Brad Pitt and their crew of grifters. Both comedy movies, they feature a brave heist to take on the Las Vegas casino scene. Something we are sure you know is not advisable.

Casino Royale (2006)

For fans of Texas Hold’em Poker, it will come as no surprise that a James Bond movie makes an appearance here. In Casino Royale we see David Craig as James Bond, who was a gamble in himself. In a deadly game of poker, he finds himself poisoned and has to not only fight to take an antidote, but also return to the table to win the game.

God of Gamblers (1989)

Of course, given City on Fire’s context, the inclusion of God of Gamblers is a no-brainer. If you have not heard of the God of Gamblers franchise yet then it's time you treat yourself to some classic Hong Kong action comedy-drama. God of Gamblers and its subsequent films, was the creation of scriptwriter and director Wong Jing and has an impressive, all-star cast featuring Chow Yun-fat and Andy Lau. It has spawned a series of films, official and unofficial.

I'm sure you'll agree with us that these three movies are very good selections, and must see. Are you a fan of gambling movies? If so I'm sure you can think of quite a few movies that can be added to this list.
