'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' Is Officially The Eighth Harry Potter Story

Posted: 23 Oct 2015 09:00 PM PDT

We are about 13 months away from a new movie set in the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter. That said, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them isn't technically a Harry Potter story. It takes place several decades before "the boy who lived" was even born, instead following the adventures of Newt Scamander as he researches material to write the very same textbook that Harry will eventually be taught at Hogwarts. However, Fantastic Beasts isn't the only dose of magic fans can expect in 2016. There will indeed be an official eighth Harry Potter story released next year. It's called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. You won't be able to find it in theaters, though. And it won't be on bookshelves, either. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a...

Leonardo DiCaprio Says 'The Revenant' Is the Hardest Thing He's Ever Done

Posted: 23 Oct 2015 07:31 PM PDT

Movie stars are very lucky to be paid millions of dollars to do what they do for a living, but never mistake their job for being easy or fun. At least not all the time.  "It was the hardest film absolutely I've ever done," Leonardo DiCaprio said of making Titanic back in 1997, in an interview with Newsweek. "Having to sit in ice-cold water all day, dunking and redunking, jumping in, jumping out and screaming at the top of my lungs. It takes a toll."   Almost 20 years later, the actor has reached a new peak for difficult film shoots. "I can name 30 or 40 sequences that were some of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do," DiCaprio said of making The Revenant, in a new interview with Yahoo! Movies. "Whether...

Elijah Wood and Simon Pegg Want To Open a Horror Musem

Posted: 23 Oct 2015 06:00 PM PDT

The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado already has a big tie to the horror genre. Stephen King happened to stay there with his wife right before it was closing for the off season, making them the sole guests in the otherwise empty hotel. They only slept there one night, but that was long enough for King to have a nightmare about his son being chased around the hotel's long, winding halls; a nightmare that would become The Shining. The Stanley already has a history of embracing its spot in horror history. It has its own ghost tour and three years ago they began hosting the Stanley Film Festival, which is quickly becoming a go-to weekend for horror fans. But now, if all goes to plan, it'll soon become a year-round go-to destination for horror fans thanks to some big name...

Comics on Film: Why That Crazy 'Batman v Superman' Theory is Just Viral Fan Fiction

Posted: 23 Oct 2015 04:30 PM PDT

We're now just under five months away from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a movie that will firmly establish the new DC Comics-based cinematic universe. Superhero fans are often a very creative bunch, thinking of plot points well ahead of a movie's release, or even creating stories in their heads to see if they can get at all close to what a filmmaker has up their sleeve for the icons they'll be dealing with. Sometimes, though, that excitement and creativity can go off the rails a bit. Case in point, a very elaborate fan theory popped up recently that purports to have uncovered a massive "conspiracy" with regards to the upcoming film's plot, specifically as it pertains to Batman and the characters from his world. The...

Real-Life "Fast and Furious" Heads to Big Screen

Posted: 23 Oct 2015 01:30 PM PDT

Recently, the taut suspense thriller Sicario, starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin, traced a fictional mission to bring justice to a Mexican drug cartel. Now a real-life operation by the federal government known as "Fast and Furious" (no relation to the giant movie franchise) will be brought to the big screen. Published in 2013, John Dodson's memoir The Unarmed Truth: My Fight to Blow the Whistle and Expose Fast and Furious told the story of a federal operation that "allowed weapons from the U.S. to pass into the hands of suspected gun smugglers so the arms could be traced to the higher echelons of Mexican drug cartels," according to Los Angeles Times. The article also stated: "The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and...

Movie News: Possible 'Gambit' Directors Emerge; Watch Ferrell and Wahlberg in 'Daddy's Home' Trailer

Posted: 23 Oct 2015 12:00 PM PDT

Gambit: Channing Tatum has been set to star in Marvel's Gambit for a while now, but who will direct? Rupert Wyatt stepped aside in September, and since then three contenders have arisen: Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow), Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), and Shane Black (Iron Man 3). Liman has the greatest experience with big-budget productions, though Marvel has often selected newer directors. The movie is tentatively set for release on October 7, 2016. [Heroic Hollywood]   Jurassic World: Bryce Dallas Howard came under fire in some quarters because her character in Jurassic World wore high heels while running from dinosaurs. Recently, however, the actress was happy to defend the choice: "This character needed to seem ill-equipped to be in the jungle," she...
