Discuss: Who Should Follow Judd Apatow As a Guest Writer for 'The Simpsons'?

Posted: 08 Jan 2015 11:00 PM PST

When you've been around as long as The Simpsons, you eventually have to find new ways of keeping the show fresh. After 25 years, one additional trick is the idea of having a guest writer. Actually, it's only sort of new, because while Judd Apatow is the credited pen behind this Sunday's episode of the series, he wrote the thing as a spec script back in 1990. At the time, he was a young comedian trying to break into Hollywood, and it didn't pan out just then. He never heard back on the submission. Now that Apatow is a big deal, it's been polished and finally produced. Regardless of the back story here, it would be interesting for The Simpsons to occasionally let more big names write special episodes. The show has been a great place for guest...

Along with sequels to some of the most successful franchises in Hollywood history, this year's slate of films also includes some high-profile reboots, compelling original films, and intriguing indie projects. And although 2015 isn't going to be the blockbuster showdown that it was shaping up to be a year ago when Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode VII, Batman v Superman, Jurassic World and Warcraft were all on the calendar, this year is still going to be a massive one for geek-friendly movie fare. Looking at this year's calendar of premieres, here's what I'm most excited...

You'll Love This: Watch 'Guardians' Director James Gunn Perform the Baby Groot Dance

Posted: 08 Jan 2015 05:30 PM PST

Hands down, the throwaway gag of 2014 belongs to Baby Groot at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy. The scene, which featured a baby version of Groot dancing to the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" quickly became one of the film's most talked-about moments and even went on to inspire a line of various Baby Groot toys. Watch the scene below. The most fascinating part about this moment, though, is how it originated. The actual dance Groot performs was modeled after the film's director James Gunn. Here's what he told Yahoo a few months back: “Baby Groot dancing is 100 percent me. I was too embarrassed for anyone to be there, so I made everyone leave the room and I set up a camera and I videotaped myself dancing. Then I sent the video to the...

A New Website Will Help You Dress Exactly Like Your Favorite Movie and TV Characters

Posted: 08 Jan 2015 04:00 PM PST

Whether you want to boost your style on a daily basis or get a head start on this year's Halloween costume ideas, a new website will help you dress like your favorite movie and TV characters. It's called Spylight, and it first assesses the look of anyone from Ron Burgundy of Anchorman to the lovers from the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey, then it grabs outfits and accessories from various online retailers and lumps them together for your shopping ease.  Spylight is brand new and still in its Beta phase, so don't expect to find everything you want just yet. My first instinct, for instance, was to seek out Ferris Bueller's iconic look, but nothing came up. This isn't exactly a costume shop, and even when you look at its pages for Captain America: The Winter...

Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller won't be writing and directing all of the follow-ups, but they are heavily involved in the planning of them and have been tasked with writing at least the Lego Movie sequel, which they recently spoke about with Empire, revealing the film will take place four years...

Its "Unusual Behavior" Has Earned 'Fifty Shades of Grey' This Rating

Posted: 08 Jan 2015 01:20 PM PST

If you know anything about Fifty Shades of Grey, then you know it's a bit of a sensual story. There's sex, there's nudity and there's a bit of a kinky factor wrapped around its story of a shy college student (Dakota Johnson) who develops a fascinatingly freakish relationship with 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). So of course you're wondering how far the movie (due in theaters February 13) goes in terms of portraying some of the steamier aspects of the book, and according to the MPAA's rating it would seem the film definitely honors those parts of the book that have already earned it millions of fans worldwide. Fifty Shades of Grey has officially been given an R rating for "strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual...
