Poster-Crop Quiz: Can You Guess These Found-Footage Movies Based on Their Cropped Posters?

Posted: 30 Jan 2015 08:15 PM PST

Break on through the fourth wall, because it's time for another Poster-Crop Quiz! This week, Project Almanac gave us the impetus to take on our own project. We've gathered together posters from 10 found-footage movies, and then stared horrified through the lens of a handheld camera as an unseen entity tore them to shreds. See if you can identify the movies from the decimated remains of their posters, leaving your guesses in the comment section below. The first person to correctly name all 10 will receive a shout-out in next week's quiz. It won't cure your nausea from all the shaky cinematography, but it's a nice bonus.    Caption: To kick things off, gaze if you dare at the poster for the Spanish found-footage horror flick [REC]. Comics on Film: What 'The Fly' and 'The Fantastic Four' Have in Common

Posted: 30 Jan 2015 07:00 PM PST

At long last and on bated breath, this week 20th Century Fox finally gave audiences their first look at Fantastic Four, the franchise reboot directed by Chronicle's Josh Trank. Many people, including comic book fans, seem to agree that while the film doesn't look like it'll be the most faithful comic book adaptation out there, it still looks extremely interesting. One thing in particular stood out in an interview Trank conducted with Collider. When asked what would make his superhero film different in a market that seems to be crowded with them, Trank answered very honestly, and in a way that many likely didn't expect. He said, "...I always viewed Fantastic Four and the kind of weirdness that happens to these characters and how...

Is 2015 the Year of the Funny Documentary?

Posted: 30 Jan 2015 06:00 PM PST

Most of the documentaries we discuss each year focus on serious, important issues -- topics that are newsworthy and with purpose. The kind of stuff that may help change the world one day. But that doesn't mean docs can't offer up a good laugh, too. With an influx of amusing documentaries on the Sundance Film Festival docket this year, we couldn't help but wonder whether 2015 would become the year of the funny doc. Here are a few we liked the most. Misery Loves Comedy Do you have to be miserable to be funny? This is the question Kevin Pollak eventually asks as he has comedians open up about their day (and night) job. Comedians like Tom Hanks, Larry David, Jimmy Fallon, Judd Apatow, Marc Maron, and Amy Schumer -- plus actors such as Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sam...

M. Night Shyamalan Thinks It's Time to Make 'Unbreakable 2'

Posted: 30 Jan 2015 04:30 PM PST

It's been almost 15 years since the release of Unbreakable, and you'd think the window of opportunity for a sequel has long since passed. But now more than ever, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan seems to believe it's finally the perfect time to revisit superpowered security guard David Dunn (played by Bruce Willis) and his arch nemesis Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson).  Collider caught up with the filmmaker while he promoted his upcoming show Wayward Pines and took a moment to discuss the possibility of the follow-up. "Of course, the whole world makes comic book movies now," Shyamalan notes. "At the time, it was completely novel. I remember when I made it, Disney was literally like, 'Comic books?!  There’s no...
