Interview: 'Faults' Director Riley Stearns Talks Cults, Facts Stranger Than Fiction, and More Posted: 30 Jun 2015 07:40 PM PDT There have been a few movies about cults in recent years, but none quite as smart and funny and weird and disarming as Riley Stearns superb directorial debut, Faults. In it Leland Orser plays a man who specializes in deprogramming victims of cult brainwashing. He's seen better days and is having a rough go of things until he encounters a set of parents who want to hire him to deprogram their daughter, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Once those two meet, however, things get... strange. Faults is out now on Video on Demand and is even a $.99 rental this week on iTunes, which is a heck of a great deal for a great movie. And that gives me a great excuse to finally publish an interview I did with Stearns earlier this year. In it we talk about other cult movies, what it's... Watch: What 'Magic Mike XXL' Looks Like As an X-rated '70s Movie Posted: 30 Jun 2015 07:15 PM PDT Are you jonesing to watch Magic Mike XXL? Is this going to go down as one of the highlights of your summer? Have you added the word "Magic" to the beginning of every "Mike" that you know just because it feels like the right thing to do? If you answered "Hells yes!" to any of those questions, then this is all you. See what it'd look like if Magic Mike XXL was not the hip 2015-set movie arriving in theaters this week, but a '70s X-rated skin-flick soaked in a smooth, vintage vibe that's equal parts sexy, juicy and just foxy, baby. Check it out. Once you start a petition for an alternate version like this to be somehow included on the Blu-ray, let us know... ya dig? The Time Steven Spielberg Wrote a Fan Letter to Dwayne Johnson Posted: 30 Jun 2015 06:00 PM PDT Chris Pratt may be one of the fan favorites to take over the role of Indiana Jones, if such a re-casting ever happens. But is he Steven Spielberg's first choice? Or might the director of all four existing installments of the Indy franchise prefer someone larger, more athletic, more charismatic? Dwayne Johnson does not have a lot in common with the original Jones, played by Harrison Ford, but why should a reboot be anything like its predecessor? Johnson can cook up something new, and Spielberg already seems to have a taste for what the former pro wrestler has to offer. We know Spielberg is an admirer of Johnson's because Johnson posted a photo of himself to Instagram a couple months ago reading a fan letter from the filmmaker. Here's what it said, as revealed... 'Snowden' Trailer: Oliver Stone and Joseph Gordon-Levitt Tackle One of America's Most Wanted Posted: 30 Jun 2015 04:30 PM PDT Two years ago the only people who would recognize the name Edward Snowden were his friends and family. Today he's widely recognized as the guy who didn't just blow the lid off of the American government's internal surveillance programs, but who continues to blow the lid off things the American people don't know their government is up to. He was, and still is, a bit controversial, to say the least. And as we all know, Hollywood revels in controversy. The superb, must-see Snowden film Citizen Four already won the Oscar this year for Best Documentary, but don't expect the cinematic exploration of one of the most important political figures in recent memory to end there. Snowden's life is also getting the dramatic treatment, from none other than JFK... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Great Scott! Why You May Never See a 'Back to the Future' Remake Posted: 30 Jun 2015 01:30 PM PDT One of the greatest movies of all-time (yes, we're going there) celebrates its 30th anniversary this week, and so it seems like the appropriate time to revisit the age-old fan question: Will we ever see a reboot of the Back to the Future franchise? With time travel in hot demand right now (see recent films like Hot Tub Time Machine, Looper and Project Almanac) -- and with a whole bunch of remakes, reboots and sequels to popular franchises hitting theaters (see this summer's Jurassic World and Terminator Genisys) -- it makes sense that Back to the Future would be next in line for a fresh update. Right? Well... no. Not according to original Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis, who recently told the Telegraph that no reboot to Back to the Future would ever... Posted: 30 Jun 2015 12:00 PM PDT Swiss Army Man: Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano (Love & Mercy) will star in Swiss Army Man, an independent, absurdist comedy about "a hopeless man stranded in the wilderness who befriends a dead body and together they go on a journey." Mary Elizabeth Winstead will also star; Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert wrote the original screenplay and will direct. Production is expected to get underway in July. [Deadline] Justice League Dark: Guillermo del Toro, who was attached to direct Justice League Dark, has departed the project. The movie is based on the DC Comics superhero team introduced in print in 2011, the team consisting of characters -- like Constantine and Madame Xanadu -- with a supernatural bent. Few details have been made available about the project... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
