Posted: 24 Mar 2015 09:30 PM PDT The Sure Thing - Shout! Factory - Blu-ray Director: Rob Reiner Cast: John Cusack, Daphne Zuniga, Boyd Gaines, Anthony Edwards, Tim Robbins. Full cast + crew There are a few noteworthy big-budget releases from 2014 hitting store shelves this week, but before we get to those let's focus on an old gem that an entirely new generation should rediscover: The Sure Thing, directed by Rob Reiner. It was his second feature ever, and it came sandwiched right between This is Spinal Tap and Stand By Me. It's a brilliant, character-driven script with two great leads in John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga. It elevates '80s sex comedy material to some endearing levels, and the whole movie has aged remarkably well. Highly, highly recommended if... Watch Tom Hanks Re-create 29 of His Movies in 6 Minutes Posted: 24 Mar 2015 06:30 PM PDT In over 30 years, Tom Hanks has given us more than 50 movies as an actor, most of them great. But just think of how long it would take to do a marathon viewing of all those titles, even just the ones that are worth re-watching. It would take you days! Or maybe it would only take you six minutes. Obviously that's not something that can really be done in so short a time, but Hanks himself has just shown that you can re-watch the most important bits of the most important movies in that brief span. And not only that, but he can re-create those bits with quick costume changes and a green screen and a little help from brand new Late Late Show host James Corden. Hanks went on the talk show (last night was Corden's debut) and performed 27 of his roles in... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 24 Mar 2015 05:00 PM PDT Time to get your nerd on! Here are a few big stories currently zooming through the online geekverse. Check Out The New Fantastic Four Poster "Change Is Coming"... or so says the newest poster for this summer's Fantastic Four, due out on August 7. The poster gives off a bit of an ominous vibe for our four heroes, Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller), Sue Storm (Kate Mara), Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan) and The Thing (Jamie Bell). The reboot, which will take a more dark and gritty David Cronenberg-esque scientific approach to the popular Marvel comic, is choosing not to reveal too much too soon, though fans will be happy to know that those classic Fantastic Four costumes will indeed appear in the movie, according to Teller. The X-Files Is Returning To... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Alien’ Forced to Change Story Because of ‘Prometheus 2’ Posted: 24 Mar 2015 01:30 PM PDT Despite a 30% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Chappie director Neill Blomkamp still would have you believe that he is the right man to have behind the wheel of the Alien franchise. But there’s one part of the film series that he’ll have to steer clear of: Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2. "I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit," Blomkamp revealed to Empire in a recent interview. “One thing that makes me feel good about it,” the filmmaker continued, “is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make.” The filmmaker also told the UK publication that he has a title for his new film, and it’s not Alien 5. "I sent...
