Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Produce, Star in 'Fraggle Rock' Movie Posted: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is headed to The Trash Heap! According to Variety, Joseph G-L has jumped on board the live action "Fraggle Rock" adaptation. He'll both star in and produce the feature film, which is based around Jim Henson's wonderfully quirky children's show from the 1980s. "The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on 'Sesame Street,' and then on 'Fraggle Rock,'" Joseph said in a statement, adding that he's never stopped loving Henson's work and he's thrilled to be collaborating with Lisa Henson and New Regency. A movie adaptation has been in the works for almost 10 years, but Variety noted that, with JGL coming on board, it gives the project a major push forward. There's no word on when the movie might be released, or other details, but the Doozers are probably busy building all the sets so it may be a while. 7 Movie Jerks We Love to Hate (VIDEO) Posted: Every once in a while, a character comes along that makes you cringe. From Draco Malfoy to Regina George, here are 7 movie jerks we love to hate. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Paper Towns' Trailer Is Here With More John Green YOLO Romance (VIDEO) Posted: "The Fault in Our Stars" did pretty well at the box office, so hopes are probably high for "Paper Towns," another John Green novel adaptation set for a July 24 release. The young adult romance-mystery stars Nat Wolff - who was in "Fault" - as Quentin "Q" Jacobsen, and model Cara Delevingne as Margo Roth Spiegelman. The official trailer was just released by 20th Century FOX and fans seem to have strong reactions, both positive and negative (especially when it comes to the casting of Cara as Margo). The story follows Quentin's love for mysterious Margo, who seems like an adventurous beauty of classic "manic pixie dream girl" trope. Margo doesn't seem to know Quentin exists until she climbs through his window to get his support in a revenge plot against her cheating ex-boyfriend. But after their all-night adventure, she goes missing - leaving a series of clues for Quentin and friends to solve. Watch the trailer here. Think it'll do even close to as well as "The Fault in Our Stars"? This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

New 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' TV Spot: 'It's Time for Some Fun' (VIDEO) Posted: The Avengers will face a serious threat in new enemy Ultron, but the latest TV spot for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is definitely on the lighter side. When called "boss" by Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) jokes that Captain America (Chris Evans) is the real boss. "I just pay for everything and design everything, make everyone look cooler..." The 1-minute spot shows most of the characters in action - including Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson), and even a quip from Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). James Spader voices Ultron (who notes that "it's time for some fun"), and the big sequel cast also features Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, and Samuel L. Jackson. "Age of Ultron" will be released May 1. Are you ready to have some fun? This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The New Trailer for Hero Dog Movie 'Max' Will Tear Your Heart Out (VIDEO) Posted: Warning: This trailer for "Max" -- a family film about a military hero dog who struggles with post-traumatic stress after serving in Afghanistan -- will induce Feelings. Side effects may include uncontrollable warm-and-fuzzies and possibly blubbering. "Max" will be released on June 26, and Warner Bros. Pictures just released the official trailer. The movie stars Josh Wiggins, Thomas Haden Church, Lauren Graham, Jay Hernandez, and Robbie Amell, but it really stars the dog. We learn that Max is traumatized by the death of his handler and is adopted into his late Marine friend's family and helps them to heal. This is sniffle-bait at its finest, and you may need Kleenex just to finish the trailer. Watch and love - then go hug your dog! This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Catch Up on 'Game of Thrones' With This Perfect 'Saved by the Bell' Mashup Posted: Need to catch up on "Game of Thrones" before Season 5 premieres on April 12? Have no fear, Mandatory is here. They have put together a recap of Season 4 of the HBO series like none other before it. Why is this primer different from other primers, you say? Because it happens to be mashed up with "Saved By the Bell." Yes. "Saved by the Thrones" has arrived. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Jai Courtney: 'Terminator: Genisys' Will Have 'Gentle Nods' to James Cameron's Films Posted: Jai Courtney is the new Kyle Reese, opposite Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger (he always said he'd be back!) as The Terminator in "Terminator: Genisys." The movie opens July 1, and Jai just talked to Variety about how he booked the role and how different "Genisys" is from the "Terminator" story of the 1984 original. "It's not a reboot or a sequel or a prequel," Jai told Variety. "It stands alone. We're introduced to a world that we've seen before. However, when Reese is sent back to save Sarah Connor, something has happened in the process sand everything has changed. All the information he has for the mission and the task at hand is different. Therefore, things have been reset and that's where we move forward from. That's about all I can say." It's like the alternate 1985 of "Back to the Future II" (but hopefully without rich Biff). Jai said he's a "big time" fan of the original "Terminator" films, adding that he probably saw "T2" 50 times as a kid. "We really are throwing it back to the films that Cameron did," Jai said. "There will be gentle nods to those, paying homage, but moving it forward as well. And trying to engage an entirely new audience, not just people loyal to the series." He admitted he hasn't even seen "Terminator: Salvation," the most recent 2009 film starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. One guy who knows all about the Cameron films is Arnold Schwarzenegger. He recently shared some teases on the film at a recent bodybuilding event, noting that "Genisys" will recreate scenes like the ones where he demands "give me your clothes" but with new twists. Here's what Arnold said (via TheArnoldFans): Should be pretty interesting. A new trailer is meant to be released with "Furious 7" on April 3, but this one is a good start: This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Weekend Movies: 'Insurgent,' 'Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter,' & More (VIDEO) Posted: This weekend, Shailene Woodley and Theo James continue their fight against a powerful alliance in "Insurgent," and a jaded Japanese woman goes on a peculiar treasure hunt in "Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter" after discovering a hidden copy of the Coen brothers' "Fargo" on VHS. Greg Nicotero Signs 2-Year AMC Deal to Produce, Direct Both 'Walking Dead' Shows Posted: Greg Nicotero is arguably the MVP of "The Walking Dead," perhaps even more so than comic book writer/TV producer Robert Kirkman. Nicotero is known as the special effects guru, but he also executive produces the show and has directed 11 episodes so far. He has four episodes under his belt for Season 5, including the premiere, Episode 9, Episode 12 and the upcoming 90-minute Episode 16 finale (March 29). So it's no surprise that AMC wants to keep him in the family. According to Deadline, he just signed a new two-year deal with the network. The contract has him continue as an executive producer and episode director on both the main "Walking Dead" show and the upcoming companion series/spinoff, while also allowing him to develop new projects for the network. Maybe now would be a good time for AMC to greenlight a show just about Nicotero's Zombie School. Showrunner Scott Gimple suggested the title "America's Next Top Walker," and it sounds good from here. It also sounds like, if Nicotero has a two-year pact for both shows and other projects, that AMC is unofficially announcing "The Walking Dead" Season 7 and another year of the spinoff, beyond the already announced 2016 second season. The spinoff's first season premieres late this summer with six episodes presumably leading into Season 6 of the mother show. Season 6 is already official, but AMC has yet to confirm the premiere date. It's usually around the second Sunday in October, but keep every October Sunday free. #TBT: Bruce Willis Through the Years Posted: Bruce Willis turns the bit 6-0 on March 19th, so we're celebrating him in today's installment of #TBT. The actor has been a Hollywood fixture ever since his days on the small screen and is still one of the biggest action stars around. Let's take a look back at Bruce Willis in photos, from "Moonlighting" to "Moonrise Kingdom." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Oscar Isaac Talks 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and Going After X-Men's Apocalypse (EXCLUSIVE) Posted: A few days ago at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, we got to sit down with Oscar Isaac, the charismatic star of "Inside Llewyn Davis" and last year's amazing (and amazingly under-seen) "A Most Violent Year." We were there to chat about his new movie, the deeply brilliant sci-fi film "Ex Machina," wherein he plays a mad scientist and tech billionaire who recruits an underling (played by Domhnall Gleeson) to test out some cutting edge new artificial intelligence and things go awry. It's awesome and we'll be bringing you lots more from the movie (and our interview with Isaac) in the weeks ahead. But while we were chatting, I couldn't help but bring up the fact that he will soon be seen in a little art house movie called "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," directed by some guy named J.J. Abrams. So I quizzed him about that without ever overstepping my bounds (I hope), including what he thought about the reaction to the trailer, what it was like to be inside of an X-Wing, and whether or not he's excited about working with his "Star Wars: Episode VIII" director Rian Johnson ("Brick," "Looper," some very cool episodes of "Breaking Bad"). We also got into the fact that he's going to be starring as the titular villain in "X-Men: Apocalypse," a role that he actually went after himself. Sometimes it's not enough to be one of the most handsome and talented young actors in the business. Sometimes you've really got to want it. Moviefone: Your next movie will be seen by every living soul on this planet. Oscar Isaac: Yes. It'll be very cool. I'm very excited about it. I'm excited to see it, to see how it all comes together. What did you think of people's reaction to the trailer? It was awesome. It was very fun. It was very fun to see that spirit get ignited again. What was it like being in an X-Wing? It was very cool, but a little nauseating because the thing is on a gimbal and moving all around. I forgot to breathe and I was like, "Whoa." But it was very cool. Were these movies super important to you as a kid? What was your motivation to get on board? Well the history of it. The first movie I remember seeing in a theater was "Return of the Jedi." And then J.J., on top of the whole thing was J.J. Nostalgia can only go so far and at a certain point you have to have someone who has a real vision of what they want to do. And your next director isn't too shabby either. Are you excited about working with Rian? Yes. Very excited. Have you talked to him yet? No, not yet. They're doing these spinoffs now. Is there any possibility for your character to star in one of those? I don't know, you're going to have to ask them about it... And you're doing "X-Men" too! What made you decide that? My first comic book I ever collected was "X-Factor" and I actually really loved Apocalypse. And yeah, so when I heard that maybe that would be the next villain, I was like, "Guys, get me in there, I want to meet with them." Oh, really? Yeah, totally. Apocalypse is so cool and weird and scary and I wanted to be a part of that. Are you going to be on set or is it a motion capture situation? [dramatic pause] I'm going to be on set... Although I don't know the details of the whole situation. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hit theaters December 18, 2015. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is due out May 27, 2016. 5 Most OMG Moments From the 'Empire' Season Finale Posted: The epic first season of "Empire" came to an end last night (what are we gonna do now?) and the finale did not disappoint. There was all the catfighting, backstabbing, drama, and sexiness we have come to expect from the mega-popular soap, and pretty much every scene had our jaws dropping and our eyes popping. Check out a roundup of the 5 most OMG moments from last night's Season 1 conclusion now. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
11 Big Blunders From Your Favorite Young Adult Movies Posted: "Young adult" is that awkward stage between adolescence and adulthood, when kids (if they let you call them that) make plenty of mistakes but are actually old enough to know better. But, unlike for their human counterparts, when YA movies make mistakes, they're on display for millions to see (and the internet to point them out). From "Twilight" to "Harry Potter," here are a few movie mistakes from your favorite young adult movies. Let's try to cut them a break -- after all, they're just kids. As usual, all photos are courtesy of MovieMistakes.com. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Best of Late Night TV: Lena Dunham's New Haircut and Will Ferrell As Little Debbie (VIDEO) Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. Will Ferrell visited "The Tonight Show" in a pretty gingham dress and announced that he's the new face of Little Debbie, because apparently he isn't the "Hollywood hunk he once was." Come for the wig, stay for the Oprah impression. One of our favorite running "Jimmy Kimmel Live" skits is Pot Quiz, in which his crew take to the streets and asks pot smokers a variety of topical questions, none of which they can answer. And yes, Willie Nelson makes an appearance this week. It is SXSW after all! Lena Dunham premiered a new haircut on "Late Night with Seth Meyers!" But more importantly, she chatted about her appearance on tonight's episode of "Scandal" and the amazing wig she has to wear -- which, as you've probably noticed, has quite a presence on Twitter already.Sean Penn got some heat for making a joke about green cards when delivering the Oscar to Alejandro González Iñárritu, but he has no regrets! Check out his response to the controversy on "Conan." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
