Jude Law Explains Why He Turned Down Superman Back In The Day

Posted: 09 Jun 2016 09:30 PM PDT

Superman has existed in many, many forms over the years. On the big screen alone he's been played by four different actors over the course of six decades. And then there's a number of other small screen TV versions, not to mention a further handful of different voice performers over the years. In total we're look at well over a dozen different portrayals of Superman in modern media alone. And yet there are still more Supermen that could have been. The most famoust alternate reality Superman is perhaps Nicolas Cage, who would have played the Man of Steel in Tim Burton's abandoned movie. He's not the only '90s icon to almost where the suit, though. Jude Law also turned down Superman. Funnily enough, Law passed on the project after he saw himself in the...

Watch People Freak Out in This Intense 'Conjuring 2' Prank

Posted: 09 Jun 2016 08:00 PM PDT

It's fun being scared at the movies. It's also fun watching other people scared in real life, if the popularity of prank shows is any indication. With each new horror movie, there seems to be some viral stunt related to it where we get to see some poor soul(s) frightened by fake hauntings and other seemingly terrifying situations. The latest, introduced by director James Wan for a Brazilian show, is tied to the release of The Conjuring 2. A scene from the movie is redone for the sake of hidden camera hijinx. Watch below.   Presumably those involved with the above shenanigans vetted their marks enough to know they had no heart trouble, because that prank goes into overload with its horrors and could very well have killed someone in poor health. Or resulted in...

Watch Bill Murray and the Other Original 'Ghostbusters' Give the New Movie Their Blessing

Posted: 09 Jun 2016 05:00 PM PDT

There are a lot of people who made up their minds about the new Ghostbusters long before they had even seen a first trailer. For that contingency, it's the original Ghostbusters or nothing at all. Anything else is a pale imitation. If you're one of those people, you may not want to watch the videos below. They may just break your heart. Last night Jimmy Kimmel Live! brought together four of the original Ghostbusters cast members with four of the new cast members and the result was a total love session, even if it did occasionally get a bit awkward with so many people on stage and no one really knowing what to do with themselves. The newbies obviously love the original cast, but the old guard heap on plenty of adulation for Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon...

Reel TV: 'Stranger Things' Looks Like 'The X-Files' and Steven Spielberg Had an Amazing Baby

Posted: 09 Jun 2016 03:00 PM PDT

Do you love old Amblin movies like E.T.? Specifically, do you like how they were unafraid to have kid characters thrust into supernatural situations that would be weird even for grown-ups? Do you like The X-Files (the old school show, not the recent reboot)? Specifically, do you like its reveal of shadowy government organizations that seem to always be one step ahead of everyone else? Do you like Stephen King stories about small, rural towns with big, dark secrets? Do you want me to stop asking you questions? Yes? I don't blame you. Just go ahead and press play on this first trailer for Stranger Things, a new Netflix series that looks like a crew of kids from an Amblin movie set in a Stephen King town get caught up in a government conspiracy, only there's no Mulder...

First Look at Tom Cruise's 'Jack Reacher: Never Go Back'

Posted: 09 Jun 2016 01:30 PM PDT

Based on the ninth in a series of books by Lee Child, Jack Reacher provided Tom Cruise with an opportunity to play a different sort of hero. The titular character served for years as a U.S. Army Military Police Corps officer before leaving the service and becoming, essentially, a drifter who seeks to help victimized people find justice. In Child's novels, Reacher wanders the country, free from any responsibilities toward family or friends, living off his savings and whatever temporary jobs come his way, and that was reflected in the first movie as well. Christopher McQuarrie wrote and directed; he had written for Cruise before on Valkyrie, and they teamed again for Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.   Jack Reacher earned $80 million at the U.S. box office, which...

Movie News: See Luke Skywalker's 'Star Wars: Episode VIII' Jedi Robe; Watch Blake Lively in Awesome 'The Shallows' Trailer

Posted: 09 Jun 2016 12:00 PM PDT

Star Wars: Episode VIII: Director Rian Johnson shared a photo from the production of Star Wars: Episode VIII that is, by itself, not terribly revealing. It shows a robe that looks very much like the one worn by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Johnson's caption is probably more revealing: "In the home stretch," alluding to the completion of principal photography on the movie, which began on February 15 and is expected to conclude soon. The movie is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017. [Tumblr]   Seveneves: Ron Howard will direct a big-screen adaptation of Neal Stephenson's sci-fi novel Seveneves. First published in 2015, the book begins with a catastrophic event that threatens mankind, prompting a desperate plan...
