Tyler Perry's 'Ninja Turtles' Mad Scientist Was Inspired by Neil deGrasse Tyson

Posted: 01 Jun 2016 11:00 PM PDT

If you feel a twinge of familiarity while watching Tyler Perry ham it up as mad scientist Baxter Stockman in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, that's because he may remind you of another very real scientist, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Granted, Stockman is way off his rocker, which makes him a great villain for the Ninja Turtles and one of the reasons he's appeared in everything from the comics to the animated series. And though Neil deGrasse Tyson is not a complete lunatic (we think), Perry tells Fandango that the famous scientist most certainly inspired him. "He was a bit of my muse, I will tell you that much," Perry reveals. "[Tyson] is nowhere near this insane, diabolical madman I was doing, but he was definitely my muse as far as the...

Now You Can Live 'The Force Awakens' Thanks to These Highly Accurate Prop Replicas

Posted: 01 Jun 2016 09:00 PM PDT

Star Wars collectors tend to not really care about the price of something so long as they want it bad enough. Heck, they shell out hundreds of dollars only to never take a collectible out of its original packaging. And if you're that type of fan, you may want to brace yourself for this news. Seriously, take a seat. This is cool news, but it's also terrible, terrible news for your bank account. Lucasfilm has launched a Star Wars Collectibles: Ultimate Studio Edition series of prop replicas that are flawless recreations of the props used in The Force Awakens. We're not talking things mass produced in a factory, either. These replicas are made-to-order by the very same Pinewood Studios propmakers who worked on the movie. So naturally the attention to detail...

The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Post-Credits Scene Connects to This Future Movie

Posted: 01 Jun 2016 07:30 PM PDT

Warning: This post will include spoilers for X-Men: Apocalypse. You may want to read it after you've seen the film. One of these most talked-about scenes in X-Men: Apocalypse is a pretty violent sequence involving Hugh Jackman's Wolverine brutally escaping from the mysterious facility run by Col. William Stryker where he's being kept, unknowingly assisting mutants like Jean Grey and Cyclops who've snuck onto the base in an effort to save their friends.  Of course X-Men fans are well aware of the facility and of Stryker's (Josh Helman, reprising his role from X-Men: Days of Future Past) importance when it comes to the creation of Wolverine. When Fandango sat down for an extended conversation with Apocalypse director Bryan Singer, we talked about this...

First 'Monster Trucks' Trailer Is Basically 'Herbie Fully Loaded' With Adorable Creatures

Posted: 01 Jun 2016 06:00 PM PDT

Randomly stumbling across Herbie Fully Loaded on TV the other day, a few things stood out. First, how delightful Lindsay Lohan and Justin Long were as fresh-faced teenagers. Second, just how dang charming the Herbie movies were. There's something about teens and a magical car with a mind of its own that just plain works. That formula is also why everything with Sam and Bumblebee is the best part of the first Transformers movie. Now that the first trailer for Monster Trucks is here, it looks like Hollywood has found the spiritual successor to the Herbie franchise. It also looks like the title is surprisingly literal. It's about a teen whose old beat-up truck gets infested with a monster. But that's not a bad thing. The monster is super cute and apparently gets a kick...

Confirmed! Disney's 'Mary Poppins Returns' Gets Christmas Release Date

Posted: 01 Jun 2016 04:30 PM PDT

We first heard about Disney's plans to develop a new take on Mary Poppins last fall. As announced at the time, Rob Marshall was set to direct and the story would take place some 20 years after the events depicted in the wildly popular 1964 family musical starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Emily Blunt was quickly touted for the lead role in the sequel, which made sense since she and director Marshall had just worked together on the musical Into the Woods. Blunt demonstrated her vocal talents in the movie.   By February, Blunt was officially in talks for the role. We also heard that Lin-Manuel Miranda (Broadway sensation Hamilton) was in talks to costar as Jack, described as "a lamplighter resembling the character of Bert, famously played by Dick Van...

Learn Just How Close 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Gets to 'A New Hope'

Posted: 01 Jun 2016 01:30 PM PDT

Much of the known universe has been up in arms of late following news that the next Star Wars movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (due out December 16) is currently undergoing reshoots to fix some of the issues the studio feels the current version of the movie has.  Cue pandemonium! What many do not know is that it's pretty routine for a big movie to carve out time for reshoots in this day and age, and you don't get much bigger a movie than Star Wars. The Hollywood Reporter did some further digging on the reshoots, learning a few things: 1. Their sources say part of the reshoots is to better match the tone of the original Star Wars movie since Rogue One "takes place just before A New Hope and leads up to the 10 minutes before that classic film...
