| Original 'Splash' Director Ron Howard Is Also Heavily Involved in the Planned Remake Posted: 23 Jun 2016 06:00 PM PDT Recently producer Brian Grazer revealed that plans were afoot for a remake of the 1984 comedy, Splash, a very literal fish-out-of-water story about a female mermaid (Daryl Hannah) who reunites with the man (Tom Hanks) she rescued when he was a boy. She's thrust into a world full of things she doesn't understand and people who may not always have the best intentions. Grazer confirmed that the remake will include a major twist on the original concept, and that one big star is already attached. A new rumor about The Wolf Man confirms a likely strategy for the studio. According to Deadline: "There are persistent rumors Universal wants [Dwayne Johnson] howling at the moon when it gets around to the Wolf Man movie that is part of its classic monsters franchise revival plans." Johnson is already incredibly busy, but if these rumors prove to be true, the casting of Johnson would confirm that Universal is building their new action-thriller monster movies around big stars. The sequel to the spin-off from The Conjuring follows a dollmaker and his wife (Otto) who invite a nun (Sigman) and several young girls to stay with them. Unfortunately, the dollmaker's prized creation, called Annabelle, is possessed and really doesn't like house guests.
