A Jean-Claude Van Damme-less sequel to 1993's Hard Target recently wrapped in Thailand by filmmaker Roel Reiné (Death Race 2-3). Martial arts star Scott Adkins (Close RangeZero ToleranceWolf Warrior) is filling in Van Damme’s shoes for the sequel.

Hard Target 2 will continue "the human hunt” in the jungles between Burma and Thailand. “What an honor to work for one of your idols. Hard Target 2 should be an ode to the old films John Woo made in Hong Kong," said Reiné (via Manly Movie).

The film also stars Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Rhona Mitra (Shooter), Ann Truong (Sonnigsburg), Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern), Adam Saunders (A Heartbeat Away), Jamie Timony (The Hunter), Peter Hardy (Chopper), Sean Keenan (Lockie Leonard), Michael Dudikoff (American Ninja), Sahajak Boonthanakit (Zero Tolerance), Patrick Kazu Tang (Dragonwolf) and Anteo Quintavalle (D is for Detroit). Yanin Vismitananda (Chocolate) is also attached to appear.

In a recent interview, here’s what Adkins had to say about Hard Target 2: I guess I am continuing to walk the path previously walked by JCVD (laughing) It’s just a coincidence I promise you, but yes, I do keep getting involved with projects that are sequels to his earlier work or I am co-starring with him… the director really knows how to shoot action and get the best look and epic production value for his movies… there are moments that pay homage to the original and we are doing everything we can to deliver a worthy sequel… and a hell of an action film in its own right.”

Other Adkins films on the radar include Boyka: Undisputed IV, Criminal, Eliminators, Doctor Strange and Savage Dogs.

Hard Target 2: Unrated Edition premieres exclusively on Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital HD on September 6, 2016 from Universal 1440 Entertainment, the original content production arm of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

With the recently announced production of War, the 2+ decade collaboration between Johnnie To (Office) and Wai Ka Fai (Too Many Ways to Be Number One) is showing no signs of weakness. In fact, it’s stronger than ever.

According to a scoop from AFS, the duo are planning project titled The Fearless Vampire Killers, which will star Andy Lau (My Bodyguard) and Gong Li (Shanghai).

If you’re wondering if it’s a remake of the 1967 Roman Polanski cult classic of the same, welcome to the club. Given To and Wai’s eclectic film influences from around the world, we definitely wouldn’t rule it out.

We’ll keep you updated on this blood-sucking story as we hear more.

Back in 2012, actor Tom Cruise drew plenty of criticism when he was cast in Christopher McQuarrie’s Jack Reacher as Jack Reacher, the popular character created by novelist Lee Child. Reacher is known for being a 6’5″ brute of a man, an ex-soldier who could physically dominate any opponent.

While Cruise is no stranger to action thanks to the Mission: Impossible series, many Lee Child fans balked at the casting of Cruise due to his pint-sized stature – enough to start a Facebook group called “Tom Cruise is not Jack Reacher.”

However, the proof, as they say, is in the movie. Jack Reacher grossed over $80.1 million in North America and $138.3 million in other countries for a worldwide total of $218.3 million, against a budget of $60 million. To top it all off, the film met with a mostly positive reception.

With that said, it should be no surprise that a sequel, titled Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, is hitting theaters on October 12, 2016. This time around, Cruise is teaming up with his Last Samurai filmmaker Edward Zwick, who is taking over directing duties for McQuarrie.

In the sequel, Jack Reacher returns to the headquarters of his old unit, only to find out he’s now accused of a 16-year-old homicide.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back also stars Cobie Smulders, Robert Knepper, Aldis Hodge, Danika Yarosh, Patrick Heusinger, Holt McCallany, Jason Douglas and Sue-Lynn Ansari.

Updates: Watch the film’s first trailer (via ET).
