'The Flash' Just Lost Another Director, May Not Make Its Release Date

Posted: 31 Oct 2016 09:15 PM PDT

Warner Bros. and DC Comics are not having an easy time with their attempt at expanding the Justice League franchise. The film's themselves have actually been doing okay at the box office (Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman both put up big numbers), but they've been mired with less-than-stellar reviews from critics and fans alike. That's caused the studio to reconsider every step of its production process, with one of the first side effects being the removal of Seth Grahame-Smith as director of The Flash.  At the time the reason seemed to be that the studio was, understandably, nervous to hand off such an important film to a first time feature director. In stepped Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, Confirmation) and production got on track, with Famuyiwa overseeing the...

One of the Best Horror Movies To Watch on Halloween Is Actually 'The Exorcist' TV Show

Posted: 31 Oct 2016 08:31 PM PDT

I know this may be hard to believe - I certainly didn't expect to believe it - but The Exorcist TV show is pretty great. In fact, it's one of the best new horror movies you can watch on Halloween. Obviously the definition of "movie" is being stretched here, but what makes The Exorcist , created by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four), stand out is the way it flat out ignores a lot of episodic, network TV show conventions. Only five episodes (of a total of ten) have aired so far, but there's no wheel spinning involved, no elaborate misdirects and setups of unrelated plot lines or characters that are tossed in just to artificially inflate buzz. This is a show that's remarkably focused on unraveling a story and building a whole hell of a lot of dread in the...

James Cameron Wants to Go All-In On New Tech For 'Avatar' Sequels

Posted: 31 Oct 2016 04:30 PM PDT

There are very, very, verrrrrry few filmmakers quite like James Cameron. Remove his actual movies from the equation, remove their budgets and their plots and their box office records. As noteworthy as those things are, we're not even talking about that stuff. We're talking about the technical side of Cameron's craft. This is a guy who doesn't just use movie magic, he invents it.. That's why Cameron was just awarded an honorary membership into the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, a group that represents those who make the science behind a filmmaker's tools possible. Cameron accepted the honor recently, and in doing so reaffirmed to his fellow engineers (via Indiewire) his commitment to making the Avatar sequels as boundary pushing as...

First 'Life' Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds Go to Space

Posted: 31 Oct 2016 01:30 PM PDT

Cast your mind back to 1962, when the race for space was still in its early stages. In September of that year, President John F. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind." Since then, we've witnessed many missions in space, both in real life and on the big screen. The latest, titled Life, features Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds and the stirring words of President Kennedy in the first, exciting trailer. Watch it below. Gyllenhaal, Ferguson and Reynolds are three members of an International Space Station crew that begins monumental research on Mars. They are...
