'Doctor Strange' Is Already Inspiring Some of the Coolest Marvel Fan Art We've Seen Yet

Posted: 19 Oct 2016 09:00 PM PDT

With Marvel venturing into its mystical frontier with the upcoming Doctor Strange, introducing heady mind-bending concepts featuring characters operating in multiple dimensions and on alternate planes of existence, all of it is going to produce some pretty wicked fan art. Take the folks from Poster Posse, for example, whose relationship with Marvel stretches back a few movies and whose artists always produce some very cool work related to Marvel's evolving stable of superhero movies. Here's some of the colorfully loopy designs they've revealed for Doctor Strange in four separate phases. To see all of the art, check out each respective phase: Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4.   Doctor Strange arrives in theaters on November...

'Harry Potter' Producer David Heyman is Rebooting 'Willy Wonka'

Posted: 19 Oct 2016 07:29 PM PDT

Despite the tepid response to Steven Spielberg's The BFG this year, the works of Roald Dahl continue to be hot in Hollywood right now. There are already remakes -- really just new adaptations -- of James and the Giant Peach and The Witches in development, and now Willy Wonka is set to return to the big screen again. Variety reports that the famed candy maker from Dahl's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is getting a reboot care of Harry Potter producer David Heyman.   We previously saw Wonka in the classic retitled 1971 adaptation Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, with Gene Wilder iconicizing the title character on film forever, and then again in the Tim Burton-helmed 2005 version, which stars Johnny Depp...

Watch: 'As They Continue To Fall' Wages War on Angels

Posted: 19 Oct 2016 06:00 PM PDT

As They Continue To Fall has a rather fun origin story. A few years ago screenwriter C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) was active on Reddit, where he'd occasionally cross paths in a screenwriting subreddit with a young man named Nikhil Bhagat. Bhagat was about to start working on his thesis project for film school, but didn't have a script he liked. He took a big swing and asked Cargill if he'd want to write it. Much to his surprise, Cargill said yes. Bhagat then took that script and ran with it, creating a slickly-made short film about a seemingly homeless drifter who is somehow caught up in a war with angels. And now the filmmaker is trying to take things even further, wanting to turn the short into a feature film. It certainly seems like this is just the tip of the...

'In a Valley of Violence' Director Ti West Explains What's Boring About Movies That are Too Realistic

Posted: 19 Oct 2016 04:30 PM PDT

[Since In A Valley of Violence is in theaters and on VOD this weekend, we're re-running our interview with writer-director Ti West from its SXSW premiere.] Ti West is seen as a horror guy. That's just what happens when you make movies like The Roost, The Innkeepers and The House of the Devil. Even his 2013 movie The Sacrament, about a team of journalists probing a cult, often gets called a horror movie even though that's not strictly the case. So you might think that his new movie, In a Valley of Violence, is a horror movie. It's not. In a Valley of Violence, starring Ethan Hawke as a drifter who crosses some unsavory figures in a small town run by a reluctant marshal (John Travolta), is a western through and through. That said, one of the things that makes it...

Check Out the Teaser Trailer and Poster for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'

Posted: 19 Oct 2016 03:00 PM PDT

UPDATE: A teaser trailer has hit online. Check it out at the bottom of this post. The best way to describe the first teaser poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is, well, chillaxed. The main cast is front and center, chilling up against some wall like they own the joint. Frankly it looks like the cover of an album some rock band would put out in the '70s -- all cool, calm and black and white; it's almost as if this crew is a little bored of being badasses. Case in point: the amusing use of the word "obviously" below the title. Like, c'mon, of course you know what's up here. Plus, I mean... how great is baby Groot. Baby Groot steals the show without even doing anything, and based on the footage we saw of the character at Comic-Con, chances are...

Michael Moore Surprises with 'TrumpLand' Doc, Out Today -- Read the First Reviews

Posted: 19 Oct 2016 01:30 PM PDT

Filmmaker Michael Moore (Where to Invade Next, above) has announced his latest project, titled Michael Moore in TrumpLand. If you've followed Moore at all since Roger & Me, his first documentary that debuted in 1989, it's no surprise that he would want to explore the controversial and polarizing presidential candidate. What is surprising, however, is the timing. After teasing via social media that an "October surprise" was on its way, Moore announced the project on Monday evening, offering free tickets on a first come, first served basis to the world premiere screening, which was held barely 24 hours later. Michael Moore in TrumpLand is also different from Moore's previous movies, according to Variety, because it's a film version of his one-man...
