Watch: Early 'Halloween' Test Footage Shows How It Changes the Way We Experience Horror Movies

Posted: 25 Oct 2016 06:30 PM PDT

One of the best things about the Internet is how it’s become a giant repository for cool things that would have otherwise been lost to time. The ability to host video on the Web has allowed for the curation of some amazing footage from film and television, stuff like this awesome test footage from John Carpenter’s classic horror film Halloween. The footage in question comes from owner Billy Kirkus (and is apparently just a small portion of what he has) and features Dean Cundey and camera operator Ray Stella testing out the Panaglide camera system at the Panavision offices in 1978 – right before filming on Carpenter’s film commenced. If you’re not a big film geek, this might not mean a whole lot to you – but it was pretty historic. Panaglide was...

'I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House' Trailer Arrives Just In Time for Halloween

Posted: 25 Oct 2016 05:00 PM PDT

It's maybe a tad unfair to be interested in a filmmaker's work purely based on who their parents were, but that curiosity is certainly the case when it comes to Oz Perkins. When the son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins starts making his own horror movies, it's kind of hard to not pay attention. Unfortunately his first horror movie, formerly titled February now called The Blackcoat's Daughter, is currently sitting on A24's distribution shelf, waiting for release. Fortunately, however, Perkins already has another horror film in the can. It's called I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House and it will be available much, much sooner than his first movie. Like, really soon. It hits Netflix on Friday. I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House stars...

In a recent interview, Ben Affleck spoke briefly about the screenplay for The Batman, a solo Batman movie that he's been working on with DC's Geoff Johns. His comments provide insight into the challenges that he's been facing. "Last night I spent working on the script," Affleck told IGN (via ScreenRant). "I'm in full-on 'trying to get it right mode.' It's not the kind of movie that you can fail quietly at. [I] have to really be sure that I have something that I feel really confident about before we go forward.” In addition to his writing duties and reprising his role as the Caped Crusader, Affleck will be directing the movie, which will undoubtedly be his largest project to date, both in terms of scale and budget. Thus, his...
