Meet the Crazy 'X-Force' Character That Almost Appeared in 'Deadpool'

Posted: 08 Feb 2016 09:30 PM PST

One of the greatest aspects of Deadpool is that the film somehow exists in both the X-Men universe and our universe. It's unique in that way (and in a whole lotta other ways), and it's wild to see a superhero movie completely rip on other superhero movies while also being very much a part of that same system.  And sure, Deadpool is in Deadpool, but there are other popular comics characters too, like Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (and plenty of jokes about the other X-Men), but another celebrated character almost joined them and was unfortunately cut at the last minute: Garrison Kane. We spoke about Kane and how he would've been used in the movie with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld in a wide-ranging interview that'll run throughout the week leading up...

'Goldeneye' Star and Director to Reteam For Ernest Hemingway War Movie

Posted: 08 Feb 2016 08:00 PM PST

What do you get when you team up James Bond with director Martin Campbell? Only some of the best installments of the 007 franchise, namely Goldeneye and Casino Royale. But what about when it's James Bond without the franchise? Campbell and Goldeneye's Bond, Pierce Brosnan, are set to reteam for two movies, one of them a newly announced Ernest Hemingway adaptation. First, though, they're currently in the midst of shooting The Foreigner. The action thriller, based on Stephen Leather's 1992 novel The Chinaman, also stars Jackie Chan as a London restaurant owner who takes revenge on the Irish Republican Army, having lost his daughter to the terrorist organization. Brosnan plays a lawyer with ties to the IRA whom Chan's character hounds for...

Marvel Countdown: Meet the Supporting Characters in 'Deadpool'

Posted: 08 Feb 2016 06:00 PM PST

Deadpool has attitude to spare, but what he doesn’t have is a lot of public familiarity with his supporting cast and villains. He’s been around for 25 years now, but considering many of his superhero peers are pushing 75, Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) is often still considered a “new” character. The great thing about Deadpool, the movie, is that there’s not a lot of bothersome continuity getting in the way of having a good time. The only prior knowledge you need to have is that the film is irreverent and dirty. So, to save you the trouble of reading over twenty-five years’ worth of comics in under a week lest you lose geek cred, we present this “who’s who’ of supporting characters in the Deadpool film.   Vanessa Carlysle...

Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza Tear Up the 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates' Trailer

Posted: 08 Feb 2016 04:30 PM PST

When The Hangover made nearly half-a-billion dollars around the world, two things happened. We got more Hangover movies and we got more R-rated comedies. No surprise there. When it comes to Hollywood, success chases success. What's been particularly noteworthy about the post-Hangover raunch boom, however, is that they're not all just Hangover rip-offs where it's a bunch of dudes getting wasted and doing stupid things. Now we also have raunchy comedies where guys and gals get wasted and do stupid things! And the latest in this mold is Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, which just released its first trailer. Zac Efron (Dirty Grandpa) and Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect) star as two brothers who tend to party just a little bit too hard. Because of this, their parents...

'MacGyver' Will Be Rebooted on the Big Screen

Posted: 08 Feb 2016 03:00 PM PST

A funny thing happened on the way to a movie parody getting a sequel: the original inspiration will be rebooted. Let us explain. Debuting in September 1985, MacGyver became a modest success in its first season, despite being programmed on Sunday evening opposite Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories, which itself was not the breakout hit many expected. While Amazing Stories wavered in quality as an anthology show from week to week, MacGyver developed a solid groove, led by Richard Dean Anderson in the leading role, and attracted an even more devoted following in its second season after a move to Monday evening. Anderson was an ideal actor to play an off-beat character, a scientist who served in the Vietnam War and survived to become a secret agent. He preferred using his...
