Comics on Film: The 5 Best 'Deadpool' Graphic Novels to Read Before (or After) You See the Movie

Posted: 12 Feb 2016 08:00 PM PST

This weekend, fans the world over will get to watch the first comics-based movie of 2016, and the genre is kicking things off with a bang (which, because of the character we're talking about, might actually be a euphemism). Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Tim Miller, hits theaters after years of development hell and impatient waiting, and if the pre-release critical reception is any indication then it should prove to be a memorable Valentine's Day weekend. As anyone who's already seen the film can likely tell you, the necessity of actually reading some of Deadpool's comics in order to enjoy the movie isn't really present. If you're a Deadpool comics fan, you'll likely pick up on a lot of the many Easter eggs...

Sizzling Sneak Peeks at Vin Diesel in 'xXx' and the New Ecto-2 from 'Ghostbusters'

Posted: 12 Feb 2016 06:30 PM PST

We love to see new photos from upcoming movies because they often provide something quite different than what we might be expecting. The sequel xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is a perfect example. The original xXx in 2002 including some sexy imagery but is mainly remembered as an extreme action movie. So our eyebrows were raised at the first image Vin Diesel shared from the sequel, featuring him in a tight clinch with a lovely, unidentified young woman in a bikini. Next we saw Diesel shirtless with Bollywood star Deepika Padukone in another intimate pose. Confirming the trend, Diesel has shared another new, intimate moment with Padukone (see above). To balance that out, Diesel also shared a photo from the set that captures costar Donnie Yen -- currently starring in Ip Man...

Posted: 12 Feb 2016 05:30 PM PST

Following an attempted big-screen reboot that never seemed to get off the ground comes word that Fox has ordered a television pilot for a new Lethal Weapon TV series that would reboot the story of detectives Riggs and Murtaugh (played by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the film series), with Damon Wayans the first to sign on as Murtaugh. As of now they're calling it a one-hour drama, and the synopsis [via The Wrap] reads almost identical to the movie: "When Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh, who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life." No word yet on who...

See 'Deadpool' Reviewed in Comic Strip Form

Posted: 12 Feb 2016 03:00 PM PST

The fans literally made this one happen. It looked for the longest time as if a movie about the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool, was DOA after the character was neutered for a throwaway role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. One leaked viz-FX reel later (and one enthusiastic star looking for a Deadpool do-over) and here we are. The cult superhero has his followers primed to explode and the rest of the nation is dying to know what all the fuss is about. Either way, anticipation is at an all-time high, but does Deadpool deliver or is it just another X-Men universe film? Click image to enlarge

Are These Really the Most Dateable Movie Characters?

Posted: 12 Feb 2016 01:30 PM PST

So it's Valentine's Day and you get to go on a date with any modern movie character -- who do you pick? According to over 1,000 movie fans polled by Fandango, this year's most date-able movie characters have something in common: they're both Marvel superheroes and they both starred in the same 2015 movie: Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) topped the list, perhaps because they're both fierce fighters and seductively mysterious. (Well that, and he looks good with his shirt off and she looks good in tight black outfits. That doesn't hurt either.) Both Thor and Black Widow beat out some hefty competition in the form of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Captain America (Chris Evans) and James...
