| First Look: New Photos and Plot Details For 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2' Posted: 12 Aug 2015 08:30 PM PDT It's been more than 13 years since My Big Fat Greek Wedding arrived in theaters, where it remained for at least 12 months as it became the top-grossing romantic comedy of all time with a global take of $369 million. Most movies that earn that much churn out a quick sequel, but most movies that earn that much aren't indies with Oscar-nominated screenplays that seem to have complete closure for their story and characters. But fans have still been hankering for a follow-up, and eventually writer/star Nia Vardalos got to work on one. Naturally it's then no surprise that Warner Bros. plans to chase that popularity with sequels and spin-offs. The first up of this bunch is The Lego Batman Movie, which will see Will Arnett once again voicing the hero who stole several scenes in The Lego Movie. Now, thanks to THR, we know that the minds behind the new movie have found who will play Batman's nemesis, the Joker. One is the very serious The Revenant, about a man who seeks revenge after being left for dead. The other is the less-serious The Hateful Eight, about a bunch of bounty hunters all teetering on the edge of chaos when they get stuck in the same lodge together. He'll play a Los Angeles police detective who has a one-night stand with a woman, then learns the next morning that she's an FBI agent and also his new boss on a high-profile criminal investigation. Next up: an actress who can team with Wahlberg and a director who can handle comedy and "big action set pieces."
