The Best Movie Trailers of the Week

Posted: 06 Feb 2015 07:07 PM PST

Welcome back to Best Movie Trailers of the Week, a column where we handpick the best new movie trailers that have arrived online over the past week. Poltergeist It’s tough not to think angry thoughts when you hear that a beloved classic is getting the big remake treatment, but the first trailer for Poltergeist is actually kind of fun. Twentieth Century Fox released two Poltergeist trailers yesterday, a domestic one and an international one, and both are solid, but the international version is clearly the more well-structured promo. It begins with such a strong introduction to the Bowen family that it immediately makes them feel like real, likable people -- and then when it’s time for things to get crazy, the trailer goes all out. The piece doesn’t hold...

Seth Rogen and Zac Efron Return for 'Neighbors 2' in 2016 -- Here's What It's About

Posted: 06 Feb 2015 05:11 PM PST

Universal ain't done bro'ing around with Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, as they've announced a sequel to the hit Neighbors is now in the works, due in theaters on May 13, 2016. The first film -- about a married couple (Rogen and Rose Byrne) that moves in next door to a raucous fraternity, led by Efron -- scored a whopping $268 million at the worldwide box office, and fans are hungry for more. Neighbors director Nicholas Stoller is returning for the sequel, along with Rogen, Efron and Byrne. This time around, however, Rogen and Byrne enlist Efron's help when a rowdy sorority moves in next door. Will the girls party harder than the boys? One thing we're looking forward to is seeing which up-and-coming comedic actresses will play sorority sisters in the sequel. If we...

Posted: 06 Feb 2015 02:00 PM PST

Though the final Hunger Games installment in this current series (The Hunger Games -- Mockingjay Part 2) is set to hit theaters this November 20, that may not necessarily signal the end of the franchise. Lionsgate has announced that in addition to Mockingjay -- Part 2 opening in IMAX 3D, the studio is also considering more Hunger Games movies. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed that they are "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities" for the franchise, according to Deadline. While there currently aren't additional Hunger Games books to adapt, that doesn't mean the world isn't ripe for more stories. There are little moments from the books -- stories of past Hunger Games and what have you -- that could...

Watch: 'Cast Away 2' and the 12-Second Sequel You Never Knew You Always Wanted

Posted: 06 Feb 2015 01:20 PM PST

One of the most devastating sequences in Robert Zemeckis' Cast Away comes when Tom Hanks' skinny, bearded, stranded FedEx executive finally makes a break for it, escaping his isolated life on the island by heading out to sea on a handcrafted raft and hoping for the best. Eventually he makes it, but not before losing the one thing that truly kept him alive long enough to make it to that point: his best friend, a volleyball named Wilson.  It's a hard moment for him and for us, and Hanks sells it so well he wound up winning a Best Actor Golden Globe for the performance. And while the film does its best to give us closure on the character's life -- to the point where he buys a new volleyball for himself -- it's not the epic reunion we were hoping for deep...
