Watch Woody Harrelson Try to Change Careers In Funny 'Lost In London' Trailer

Posted: 06 Jan 2017 07:30 PM PST

UPDATE 1/6/17: There's a funny trailer, of sorts, out for Lost In London, which is basically Woody Harrelson begging people to support his career change. See it at the bottom of this post. Previously: Movie distribution has changed drastically in recent years. Movies are no longer shipped to theaters on heavy reels of film, they're delivered on an encrypted harddrive or even beamed down from a satellite. And while this does have a certain contingent of purists upset that old school film is no longer the main means of watching a movie, it does allow for certain things film never could, like live events simulcast to different theaters.  And now Woody Harrelson is going to take advantage of this live theatrical capability to direct and star in Lost In London...

The Last Horror Blog: Most Anticipated 2017 Horror Movies

Posted: 06 Jan 2017 06:00 PM PST

If you forced me to guess, I’d say that the best horror movies of 2017 will probably be the ones we haven’t heard much about yet – there’ll be an indie or some festival darling that didn’t get millions of dollars in TV ad buys. Those movies tend to come out of nowhere – and honestly, they make life interesting. I like surprises. This doesn’t mean, however, that there won’t be some good films over the course of the next 12 months from the studio system. Of course, as has been the case for the past few years, Hollywood is fixated with sequels, reboots, and remakes. That will continue in 2017 – but I’m excited about a few of those, too. I suspect many of you are as well. So, while we don’t know every horror film...

Comics on Film: Let Ben Affleck Make the 'Batman' Movie He Wants

Posted: 06 Jan 2017 04:30 PM PST

Very early into this new year, the internet was seemingly set ablaze by none other than Ben Affleck, the star and director of Live By Night, and the incumbent Dark Knight of Warner Bros. film universe based on the characters of DC Comics.   Affleck, an accomplished, Oscar-winning director who had seemingly been confirmed to both star in and direct the first post-Christopher Nolan solo Batman film project, spoke to the UK's Guardian about a previously unknown "backdoor" out of the director's chair. He told the outlet, "If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great, I’m not going to do it."   If nothing else, his going on the record in this way should say one, primary thing to the...

Superhero Buzz: First Look at 'Thor: Ragnarok,' Plus: 'Spider-Man' and 'Black Panther' News

Posted: 06 Jan 2017 12:00 PM PST

With Doctor Strange successfully launched, Marvel can now return its attention to teasing its upcoming slate. which is actually quite diverse as far as superhero movies go. In the first tease, we have our first official look at Thor: Ragnarok (above). Rather than a production still, it's a photo from behind the scenes, featuring director Taika Waititi and star Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor), which is an interesting choice. Marvel previously shared an off-the-wall video that explained why Thor wasn't in Captain America: Civil War; more recently, Waititi shared a behind-the-scenes video from the first day of production in October Given Waititi's resume as a filmmaker who knows how to blend humor with heart -- see, for example, last year's excellent Hunt for the...
