The Last Horror Blog: Eight Movies More Controversial Than 'The Human Centipede' Series

Posted: 28 May 2015 09:00 PM PDT

As far as cinematic genres go, few are as reliably controversial as horror cinema. From the days of Tod Browning’s Freaks (which used real sideshow performers for its ghastly tale of retribution) way back in 1932, to some of the unforgettable moments of Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist, controversy is one of the genre’s constants. While there’s no official title bestowed upon the filmmaker who’s the king of upsetting mainstream audiences (often in the worst way possible), if there was, director Tom Six would probably be the reigning ruler. Six is the man responsible for The Human Centipede films, a trilogy of features that find people (in ever-increasing numbers…) being connected mouth to anus for…something. Six’s third installment...

Here's a First Look at Andy Serkis in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Posted: 28 May 2015 05:24 PM PDT

The first official image of Andy Serkis filming his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens has arrived online, revealing his part will be done entirely with motion-capture technology, a la his previous work in the Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes movies.  The image, via the Star Wars website, is part of a longer interview with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. And within it we also learn who Serkis is playing -- a character named Supreme Leader Snoke. Check him out below. Click image to enlarge. It's not revealed how Supreme Leader Snoke fits into the film, though we're assuming he's a bad guy -- and perhaps the new trilogy's primary antagonist, much in the same way the Emperor was in the original Star Wars movies.  Leibovitz, who's...

Funny 'American Ultra' Trailer Turns Jesse Eisenberg Into a Stoner Secret Agent

Posted: 28 May 2015 03:22 PM PDT

Update: The first red band trailer for American Ultra is now online. Check it out below. It's surprising with how topical and popular marijuana currently is (recreational use of it is now legal in multiple states!) that we don't see more stoner movies in theaters. That looks to be changing with the emergence of American Ultra, starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg as two stoners whose lives are uprooted when they learn the government wants to wipe them out.  Of note: The film was written by fan-favorite Max Landis (Chronicle). Here are the movie's first two posters, along with an image. And in case you didn't think they'd be leaning into the stoner thing too much, well...     American Ultra is due in theaters on August...

Listen to the One Song That Makes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Cry

Posted: 28 May 2015 01:30 PM PDT

One of the hallmarks of being a great actor or actress is the ability to cry on cue. It's definitely not easy, but all the big Hollywood stars know how to pull it off, ultimately adding a more honest and emotional layer to their performance. So how do they do it? Well everyone has a different trigger -- and while you'd think it might be more difficult for a big, burly tough guy like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, you'd be mistaken. In fact, all it takes to make The Rock cry is...well, a little Whitney Houston. While speaking to the New York Times in advance of San Andreas arriving in theaters this weekend, The Rock revealed that he can indeed "cry like that," adding... "I hear a song sometimes, ‘Didn’t We Almost Have It All,&rsquo...
