What Is Your Movie Tradition on Christmas?

Posted: 24 Dec 2014 11:00 PM PST

Midway through today, millions of people will stop their hours of sitting in front of a tree adorned with lights and go spend hours sitting in front of a screen adorned with light. It's part of the tradition of Christmas that at some point the family cleans up all the wrapping paper, gets dressed and heads to the cinema for whatever G or PG release they can all agree on. This year, given dad's annoyance with kiddie musicals and mom's trouble sitting for three hours and the kids' unfortunate disinterest in history, we'll probably see an upturn on the Night at the Museum: Secrets of the Tomb box office this week.  Of course, it's not just those who celebrate Christmas who will be at the movies today -- although I bet a lot of non-Christians now...

Watch the 'Christmas Story' Frozen-Tongue Scene Re-created on a New York Subway

Posted: 24 Dec 2014 09:30 PM PST

There is no shortage of great moments in Bob Clark’s holiday staple that would have been worthy of an improv performance. However, the crew from Improv Anywhere could only pick one – and they settled on the infamous “tongue frozen to the flagpole” sequence from early in A Christmas Story. If you’re worried about some poor kid putting his tongue on a filthy part of the public transit system, fear not – he used a prosthetic tongue with a magnet inside to make sure the appendage stuck and that he wasn’t getting cooties in the process. The results are classic as delighted onlookers watch the scene...

Hey Comic Fans: Spend Your Holiday Reading These Great Batman Stories

Posted: 24 Dec 2014 06:00 PM PST

We've reached what many consider to be the most wonderful time of the year, and it seems like the holidays can, in many ways, go hand in hand with the ideals of the superhero. Good will toward all and helping your fellow man are ideals that are pretty consistent with those of many superheroes, so it's not surprising that superhero ficition gets in the spirit of the season whenever November and December roll around on the calendar. Some characters, though, tend to be resistant to the peachy emotions evoked by the holiday season, one of the most obvious of these being the Dark Knight himself, Batman. That doesn't stop DC Comics or Warner Bros. animation from making a plethora of Batman Christmas stories over the years, and these five prove to be some of the...

Sometimes life winds up imitating art – which is exactly what happened when The Wedding Ringer stars Kevin Hart and Josh Gad crashed a real-life wedding reception in West Hollywood recently. The duo, who were decked out in formal attire for a photo shoot to promote the film, learned there was a reception happening nearby. All dressed up for the occasion, the actors ventured next door and helped make the event unforgettable for the new bride and groom. Gad announced their arrival, telling guests he was a little disappointed that he and Hart weren’t invited to the event, but they hoped it was okay that they showed up anyway.
