THE MOVIE: In Skiptrace, a detective from Hong Kong (Jackie Chan) teams up with an American gambler to battle against a notorious Chinese criminal. The film also stars Fan Bingbing (Iron Man 3).

The internationally-set film will feature stops in Hong Kong, Macau, Eastern Europe and Mainland China. Jay Longino has been tapped to pen the screenplay.

Jackie will star, co-write and produce. Sam Fell (ParaNorman) is directing, and additional screenwriters are Jay Longino (Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation), Brian Gatewood (Animal Practice) and Alessandro Tanaka (The Sitter).

Update: Asian Movie Pulse features some recent quotes from Jackie Chan. He says that Skiptrace will be very location-driven and he hopes to set the sequences of action/comedy in settings that his fans haven’t seen him to do yet. | According to Dark Horizons, Seann William Scott (American Pie) has joined the cast.

BREAKING NEWS: According to Film Combat Syndicate, Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger) will be helming Skiptrace. Production is expected to start in August 11, 2014.

In addition to Skip Trace, looks like Jackie Chan has another upcoming project that will supposedly team him up with fellow action star Mel Gibson.

According to Impact, the film is called Dragon Blade, a period piece that sees a Roman Legion lead by Mel Gibson's character getting caught up in an adventure in China where they cross paths with a Chinese hero played by Jackie Chan. They are forced to join forces to battle an even greater foe that threatens the whole world.

Dragon Blade will be helmed by Daniel Lee, a veteran Hong Kong filmmaker, mostly known for 1994's What Price Survival, 1996's Black Mask, 2010's 14 Blades, and most recently, 2011's White Vengeance.

To some, the thought of two, high caliber action legends sharing the screen is a dream come true. To others, the controversial Gibson appearing alongside Chan, is an awkward pair up. To us? Well, it’s Asian Hawk and Mad Max in one film. How cool is that?

Impact reports that Dragon Blade starts production in March/April, with a scheduled release date in 2015. Until then, look for Gibson in the upcoming The Expendables 3 and hopefully, we’ll hear more on Chan’s Skip Trace soon.

According to Super Chan’s Jackie Chan Blog (via Film Combat Syndicate), Dragon Blade has officially started filming: “Dragon Blade officially got underway today in Hengdian with some battle scenes. Filming conditions were difficult, as a combination of heat, heavy costumes and a long day took their toll on cast, crew and extras alike.”

BREAKING NEWS: A new promotional poster for Dragon Blade has hit the net. There have been numerous reports that Mel Gibson is co-starring, but judging from this newly released poster, we’re not sure if it’s official. Stay tuned! - Thanks to Film Combat Syndicate
