Why 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Is the Best Movie of the Year

Posted: 29 Dec 2015 09:00 PM PST

When I think about my favorite movies of the year, I first think about what it was like watching them. Not the story or the characters or the screenplay or the sound design, but the experience. What was it like for me inside that theater? What did I feel? Where did I go? How did it affect me? How did it change me? My favorite movies of 2015 may not be perfect movies, and they may not be your favorite movies, but all of them left a mark on my mind and my soul. From post-apocalyptic car chases to two friends overwhelmed by the power of movies, this list is personal and full of movies you should experience if you haven't already. Here are my 10 favorite movies of 2015...   10. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl This quirky tearjerker about a high school senior whose...

New 2016 Images: 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Bends the World, The Punisher Captures 'Daredevil' and More

Posted: 29 Dec 2015 06:00 PM PST

The best thing about a new year approaching is all the 2016 movie previews. And the best thing about all the 2016 movie previews is the unveiling of new images from our most anticipated releases, including some related television series we're looking forward to. Check out some must-see first or continued looks below.   X-Men: Apocalypse Think Magneto is already plenty powerful? Well, the new X-Men movie is making him even stronger. Michael Fassbender's villainous character teams up with bigger bad Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) in the sequel as one of the latter's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and heightened magnetic powers is one of the perks that comes with that job. The concept art here shows what that perk looks like: "One of Apocalypse’s many...

Watch: The Night Is About To Get Even Worse For Everyone In 'Body' (Exclusive)

Posted: 29 Dec 2015 03:00 PM PST

There are few story premises so perfect in their simplicity as "what do we do with this dead body?" It's a foundation for countless different outcomes. Do you call the cops? Do you hide the evidence? Do you try to frame someone else? Do you show it off? Do you pretend it never happened? Those and many more questions are the driving force behind the new indie thriller Body. It's out on Dgitial HD today and it's our pleasure to premiere a clip from the movie. But not just any clip! This is the moment when things start to really go south for three unlucky ladies (played by Helen Rogers, Alexandra Turshen, Lauren Molina). But before we get to the clip, here's the official synopsis. "A darkly funny and twisted journey taking place entirely on one...

'Star Wars' Buzz: How Anakin Skywalker Almost Appeared in 'The Force Awakens' and More

Posted: 29 Dec 2015 01:30 PM PST

Of all the classic characters who were anticipated to appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Anakin Skywalker probably ranked near the bottom. That's largely because his character arc in the prequels was, at best, problematic; neither Jake Lloyd in The Phantom Menace nor Hayden Christensen in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith were able to deliver performances that captured the hearts of fans worldwide. But the young boy that grew into the troubled man who would become Darth Vader lingered in the imaginations of the filmmakers charged with making the seventh installment in the series and early plans featured the return of the character. According to the new book The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (via Cinema Blend), concept artist Iain McCaig suggested...

Movie News: 'X-Force' Character Art Revealed; See the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Batcave

Posted: 29 Dec 2015 12:00 PM PST

X-Force: Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) was hired to write a script for X-Force, an X-Men spin-off, back in July 2013, drawn from the Marvel comic book series about a mutant military strike force. Now concept art by Gregory Semkow has been spotted featuring five characters from the proposed movie, led by Cable, a frequent collaborator with Deadpool. Comic creator Robert Liefeld says that he's "not aware" of any further development on the movie, since the focus is currently on Deadpool. [Cinema Blend/Twitter]   Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: The first low-resolution peek at the new Batcave suggests a more spare headquarters for the Caped Crusader (played by Ben Affleck) in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. An accompanying photo also features Jeremy Irons...
