Now that Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is in theaters, the conversation has shifted from what we expected to see in the seventh installment of the franchise to what we hope to see in the next chapter of the sci-fi saga. While Star Wars fans will likely agree that The Force Awakens met – and in some cases, exceeded – expectations for the series' long-awaited return to the big screen, there are quite a few things we're still hoping to see in future films, and some elements that the events of the new film made us look forward to down the road. Intense First 'Desierto' Trailer Looks Like An American 'Wolf Creek'

Posted: 23 Dec 2015 08:00 PM PST

Alfonso Cuarón has swept us into the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He's shown us the casual horrors of a dystopian future in Children of Men. He's taken us into outer space and used Gravity as a roller coaster, a nightmare, and a savior. Basically, Alfonso Cuarón is an undisputed master of complicated movie magic. That said, that complex movie magic looks almost entirely absent from his next movie, Desierto. There's a simple explanation for its absence, too. Alfonso Cuarón only produced Desierto. It was actually written and directed by his son, Jonás Cuarón. And even though Jonás clearly gets the spectacle side of things (he co-wrote Gravity), as...

Feeling Naughty? Watch a Filthy Red-Band Trailer for 'Fifty Shades of Black'

Posted: 23 Dec 2015 06:00 PM PST

How exactly do we pass the time between Fifty Shades of Grey movies? The next sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, isn't due in theaters until February 10, 2017, with its sequel, Fifty Shades Freed, due on February 9, 2018. So, no, Fifty Shades of Black has no relation whatsoever to the other Fifty Shades movies -- and you'll probably get the hint roughly 10 seconds into this naughty new red-band trailer. Check it out. Warning: This trailer is NSFW to the extreme.   Written by and starring Scary Movie veteran Marlon Wayans, Fifty Shades of Black is quite obviously the spoof version of Fifty Shades of Grey, featuring all the requisite jokes that easily lend themselves to a movie that's poking fun at the sexually devious 2015 hit. Wayans plays Christian Black...

Posted: 23 Dec 2015 04:00 PM PST

We're just starting to absorb the impact that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already made on popular culture, which is why it's wild to realize that the next Star Wars movie will open in theaters in less than a year. Already in production, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a spin-off movie that promises to be a distinct entity, set in a time period just before the original Star Wars in 1977. But that's not all! Star Wars: Episode VIII will begin production "in a few weeks," according to John Boyega, who stars as Finn in the new series. Boyega made an appearance at the conclusion of a screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and stated in part: "The movie is yours now and I really hope you enjoyed it and we are so happy to be starting on Episode Eight...
