Robert Downey Jr. will join Captain America 3 Posted: 13 Oct 2014 11:16 PM PDT Fairly major news to bring you this morning regarding Captain America 3, with Variety reporting that Robert Downey Jr. is set to join proceedings. According to the report, the film will bring the famous Civil War storyline to the big screen for the first time, as Cap and Tony Stark find themselves lining up against each other. Their difference stem from the the Superhero Registration Act, a piece of government legislation that demands anyone with superhuman abilities reveal themselves to the authorities, and act as part of their private police force. Tony Stark is all for it, but Steve Rogers is not, and the two soon find themselves on a collision course of epic proportions. Exciting stuff then, but according to the report, it nearly didn't happen… According to Variety, Iron Man had initially been pencilled in for a small role in the film, only for Downey to campaign for a larger part in proceedings. While Marvel chief Ike Perlmutter wasn't happy, Kevin Feige saw the opportunity to bring Civil War into existence, and is in the course of thrashing out a deal with his star. All of which would go some way towards explaining why a fourth Iron Man solo outing is unlikely, as a Civil War storyline could run for several films in its own right. Look forward to the battle lines being drawn when Captain America 3 opens in the UK on 29 April 2016. |
Michael Keaton says he would play Batman again Posted: 13 Oct 2014 11:00 PM PDT Michael Keaton has been reminiscing about his time as Batman, and says he would re-don the cape and cowl if the chance of a reunion with Tim Burton ever presented itself. "If it was Tim Burton directing?" clarified Keaton, when asked by Entertainment Weekly whether he would ever consider playing the character again. "In a heartbeat." "Tim, in the movies, really invented the whole dark-superhero thing. He started everything, and some of the guys who have done these movies since then don't say that, and they're wrong." Meanwhile, Keaton also revealed that he was offered a whopping $15 million to return to the role for Batman Forever, but decided against it for creative reasons… "It sucked," says Keaton, explaining why he turned the movie down. "Yeah, it was just awful." Let's hope Joel Schumacher isn't reading… |
Jai Courtney calls Terminator: Genisys a “reset” Posted: 13 Oct 2014 10:47 PM PDT Jai Courtney has been discussing Terminator: Genisys, and says that the new film will act as a "reset" for the long-running franchise. "I think it's going to be really cool what they've done with it," says the star. "People want to know if it's a sequel or a reboot. A word that kind of came to me is that it's more of a 'reset'." "That's the awesome thing about when you play with time travel. We can kind of get away with, you know, maybe we're introduced to a world that audiences know but circumstances can change and that shifts the course of everything." With that in mind, Courtney suggests that the new film will be completely accessible for those who are new to the series, as well as those who are long-term Skynet fanatics… "I don't think it's either or," he says. "I think it's, if they wanted to [watch the previous films] they could but I don't think that if they hadn't they'll see our film and be completely lost." Directed by Alan Taylor and co-starring Emilia Clarke, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Clarke, Terminator: Genisys will open in the UK on 3 July 2015. |
