Dave Bautista cast in Bond 24?

Posted: 12 Oct 2014 10:56 PM PDT

Dave Bautista was one of the surprise packages of Guardians Of The Galaxy, and it looks like the former wrestler is set to be rewarded for his scene-stealing antics with a role in the new Bond film.

Not so long ago, it was reported that the production was looking for "an imposing, extremely physically fit actor… someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background", to play one of the antagonist's henchmen.

Well, according to Latino Review, Bautista is the man for the job and has already signed on to play the character, known only as "Hinx".

Filming is set to begin on the project on 6 December 2014, so expect a glut of further casting announcements over the coming weeks, as the production process starts to kick into gear.

Directed by the returning Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig as 007, Bond 24 will open in the UK on 23 October 2015.

Batman will get a LEGO Movie spin-off

Posted: 12 Oct 2014 10:43 PM PDT

Not satisfied with adding him to the Man Of Steel franchise, Warner is set to put Batman to work once more, with THR reporting that the studio has given the green light to a LEGO Movie spin-off featuring the Dark Knight.

According to the report, Will Arnett is already on board to voice the character for a second time, with The LEGO Movie's animation supervisor Chris McKay set to direct.

Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Chris Miller will all contribute to production duties, with Warner planning to fast-track the project ahead of a potential release in early 2017.

The film will be one of three in the franchise to be released in the near future, with Ninjago and The Lego Movie 2 scheduled for 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Plot details remain non-existent at present, but given that Arnett's Batman stole every scene that came his way in the original movie, we can't wait to see him in his own adventure…

First look at Charlie Cox as Daredevil

Posted: 12 Oct 2014 10:30 PM PDT

The first images have appeared online from Marvel's forthcoming Daredevil TV show, featuring our first glimpse of Charlie Cox in the title role.

The new images show Cox as both Matt Murdock and alter-ego Daredevil, with the former showing off his signature combo of sharp suit and rose-tinted specs.

The image of Cox as Daredevil shows off the character's new costume in all its glory, and it looks a far more sober affair than the big-screen version, eschewing red leather for a black, ninja-inspired aesthetic.

"It's been a real challenge," said Cox, during a Q&A at the New York Comic-Con. "There are so many aspects to Matt, the blindness, the physicality, the action sequences…"

"I think the thing I loved about Matt Murdoch, is that we're meeting a man who is a lawyer by day and believes in law and justice, and at night he's taking the law into his own hands and then deciding what justice should be for himself, and all the time in between is spent battling with that concept."

Co-starring Rosario Dawson and Vincent D'Onofrio, Daredevil will air on Netflix in May 2015.

Joel Schumacher responds to Batman & Robin criticism

Posted: 12 Oct 2014 10:00 PM PDT

Joel Schumacher has been discussing his time at the helm of the Batman franchise, and has responded to some of the criticism levelled at Batman & Robin.

Schumacher seems particularly bemused by the reaction to his version of the batsuit, which infamously introduced nipple-detailing to the Dark Knight's famous body armour.

"I was like, 'Are you kidding me?'" says Schumacher of the response to the suit. "I think that will be on my gravestone. It's how I'll be remembered."

And as for the suggestion that his take on the farnchise was too cartoonish, Schumacher asserts that it was the only way to follow Tim Burton's approach with the first two films…

"I was never able to go into the darkness," he says. "Because of Batman Returns, families had objected that it was too adult, which is no criticism of Tim Burton."

"When they offered it to me, I went to Tim and said, 'This is your franchise and they want me to do it. I won't do it if you don't want me to.' He said, 'Take it, please! I can't do another one.' Even though Batman Forever is really sexy, it was a movie the whole family could see."
