Tina Fey producing Hocus Pocus sequel

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 07:59 AM PDT

Children of the 90s may want to brace themselves.

Hocus Pocus is getting a sequel - and comedy Queen Tina Fey is going to help produce it.

The original is now an undeniable kids classic, a live action Disney flick focusing around the resurrection of three evil witches (played, merilessly, magnificently and enjoyably camply by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy) and the havoc they wreak one Halloween.

Fey's production company, Little Stranger, is now on board with the sequel which will focus on a 'housewife who is related to the Sanderson sisters, who teams up with a witch hunter to save her children after they fun afoul of some resurrected witches while out trick-or-treating'.

Our reaction? We'll just hand this one over to Liz Lem... Tina Fey.

Rosario Dawson and Jamie Chung star in new images from Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 02:53 AM PDT

Two new images have arrived online for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, with Rosario Dawson and Jamie Chung getting their moment in the spotlight.

The duo certainly look set to rival newcomer Eva Green in the femme fatale stakes, although since neither of these new images contain any hint of under-boob, the MPAA can rest easy for now…

The new film will stitch together some classic Frank Miller storylines with some all-new angles, as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mickey Rourke and Josh Brolin team up to take down Powers Booth's crooked senator.

From the footage we've seen so far, the tone and feel of the film seems to be almost identical to the original, so fans who have been counting down the days in the near-decade that has elapsed since its release should be well catered for.

Co-directed by Miller and Rodriguez and co-starring Jessica Alba, Ray Liotta and Bruce Willis, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will open in the UK on 25 August 2014.

Watch the first trailer for Horrible Bosses 2

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 02:43 AM PDT

The first trailer has arrived online for Horrible Bosses 2 in which Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman and Charlie Day return with another hair-brained scheme.

This time out, the trio have are starting up a new business, only for Christoph Waltz's slippery investor to pull the rug out from under them, and claim their start-up for his own.

Their solution? Kidnap his son (Chris Pine). Simple as that. Except of course, it's nothing like as simple as that…

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston are both back to riff on their nightmarish personas from the first film, while it's also nice to see Jamie Foxx making a return as the boys' would-be mentor in crime…

Directed by Sean Anders, Horrible Bosses 2 will open in the UK on 28 November 2014.

Christian Bale stars as Moses in first images from Exodus: Gods And Kings

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 02:26 AM PDT

The first images have arrived online from Biblical epic Exodus: Gods And Kings, featuring Christian Bale as a particularly badass version of Moses.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the new film follows the story of Moses as he attempts to deliver his people from the tyranny of Joel Edgerton's Pharoah Ramses.

These new images give us a good look at Bale's all-action moses, while there's also a glimpse of a strangely feminine-looking Edgerton as his regal nemesis.

Bale himself has also taken time to give EW.com a quick word on Moses, describing him as "one of the most fascinating characters that I've ever studied… I think Achilles is described as the most passionate man alive but I think Moses would give him a very good run for his money."

Directed by Scott and co-starring Ben Kingsley, Aaron Paul and Sigourney Weaver, Exodus: Gods And Kings will open in the UK on 26 December 2014.

Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy star in the first St. Vincent trailer

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 02:20 AM PDT

The first trailer has landed for Theodore Melfi's dramedy, St. Vincent, in which Bill Murray stars as a grumpy old so-and-so, living alone with barely a penny to his name in a state of perennial gruffness.

However, his mood gradually starts to lighten with the next-door arrival of Melissa McCarthy and her precocious young son, with whom he begins to forge a bond.

Murray looks to be in fine form here in a role that was clearly written for him, while McCarthy also looks good value in a straighter part than usually comes her way.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

The trailer hints at a touch of schmaltz as things get a little life-lesson-ish, but hopefully the film itself won't ladle it on too heavily. With Murray in the leading role, there should be plenty of sour to cut through the saccharine…

Directed by Melfi and co-starring Chris O'Dowd, Naomi Watts and Terrence Howard, St. Vincent will open in the US on 24 October 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.

Disney planning Enchanted 2

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 02:14 AM PDT

Disney is set to move forward with a sequel to 2007 smash, Enchanted, with a pair of screenwriters having been hired to begin work on a script.

According to Deadline, J. David Stern and David N. Weiss are set to begin work on the project, having cut their teeth in the family arena on the likes of Shrek 2 and The Smurfs.

The original film was a critical and commercial smash for Disney, earning plaudits for its willingness to send up the studio's fairytale tropes, while also scoring $340 million at the global box office.

Hopefully any sequel will stick to that policy of balancing wry humour with a genuinely touching love story, and won't go chasing the kiddie audience too single-mindedly…

No word as yet regarding the potential returns of any of the original cast, although Amy Adams has always been open to a follow-up. As the beating heart of the first film, Disney will likely be making her the priority when the time for casting comes around…
